I starred up at the endless night sky of the night court, it was quite beautiful, and maybe in a different time I would have stayed here, a few nights to take in the sights. But now I had a mission. I nodded my head forward and entered the unknown land, Poppy and Echo on my heels.

As we ran through the entrance, the bone chilling cold hit me immediately. But we continued to run through the storm, my hawks flying above us prepared to let us know if the beasts were anywhere near.

"Abella!" I heard a voice calling from behind me. My head flew in the direction of the voice to see Nina barreling towards me. "What are you doing here?"

I stared at her and then shot a glance at Echo as she moved to attack Nina. Nina was prepared for her attack and flipped around her, both of them pointing daggers at the other. Nina went to strike and caught Echo's arm. This only angered Echo and caused her to charge.

"Both of you stop it." I hissed at them. "Echo she's fine, she's an old friend."

They both stopped fighting but sent each other deadly glares. Echo wiped blood off of her mouth as her eyes traveled to meet mine.

"Nina." I said nodding my head at her, not sure what to do.

"I'm happy to see you're doing alright." Nina said and shifted awkwardly between her feet. "I've been expecting to see you here."

"You have?" I asked, one of my eyebrows raising.

"Ya." She chuckled. "You were hell bent on killing your captor, and I guessed that wasn't going to just disappear."

"It was nice seeing you but like you said I have something I need to do." I smiled at her and began to walk in the other direction.

"Wait she called out." Jogging after us. "Let me go with you!"

"What?" My head swung over to her.

"You saved my life two times." Nina said still keeping pace with us. "And, like I said we're friends."

My heart hurt a little bit hearing that. I had blocked out my time in the cabin and by association I had blocked Nina out, forgetting that her and I became good friends. That she supported me during my most vulnerable time.

"Plus, judging from how your friend here fights you're going to need me if you run into any beasts." Nina said throwing Echo a glare that caused her to snarl.

I rolled my eyes at Echo's snarky remark and started running further into the storm. On our way we spoke in hushed voices of my plan. At first I could sense Nina's hesitation but by the end of it she was convinced and laughed about how she knew I was more deadly than anyone gave me credit for. After a few hours of running the cold air was freezing us, Nina's wing that she had wrapped around me was no longer offering me warmth.
