Abella

That was until a long arm rose slowly into the air, gripping a glass. Slowly the man clinked the glass and from across the room our eyes meet. I couldn't help the glimmer of curiosity that passed through my eyes as he smiled at me and then opened his mouth to speak.

"I first would like to thank High Lord Tamlin as well as his family for having me at the flower festival." My father smiled at him and nodded his head. "Now I would like to speak of Abella. When I first laid my eyes on her I felt like I was truly living for the first time. She was and will always be the most beautiful female I'd ever seen. Not just because of her stunning appearance on the outside, but for the beauty that radiates from within her. Watching her tonight, I could see the love that she has for her court and for her family and it is truly inspiring. I will work for the rest of my days to be worthy of that love and I hope even pray to the mother that one day I will capture her heart as she has captured mine."

At the end of his speech Tarquin was a few feet in front of me, holding out his hand for me to take. I didn't pay any attention to the crowd of people as I took his hand and allowed him to lead me to the dance floor. Tarquin and I couldn't let go of each other, as we danced around the room. Slowly more and more people started to join, but we danced circles around them. The whole time I couldn't look away from his eyes and the glimmer that had been in the since he had given his speech.

That was until Echo pulled me out of Tarquin's arms muttering a string of very creative threats and insults. I danced with Echo for a while, and eventually we found Daniella and made her join in our dancing. The three of us twirled each other around until I grew dizzy.

I excused myself from the dance to go find my father and mother. When I caught sight of them, I gave them a big smile.

"Are you two having fun?" I questioned wiggling my eyebrows at them. "I saw you guys on the dance floor, you looked lovely."

"We are having the time of our lives." My dad said placing a kiss on my head. "We only wish that Tarquin wasn't here to steal you away."

"It was quite the speech." My mom agreed her eyes searching mine.

"It was." I sighed. "I'm still shocked about it, but don't you guys think that it was sweet?"

"Yes, it was sweet." My dad said, though the look on his face said that he didn't fully agree. "But giving it in front of everyone, in front of the night court, in front of the members of our court, was quite inappropriate. It made it more of an announcement to them."

I furrowed my eyebrows "I'm sure he didn't mean it as that." I disagreed not wanting to believe the worst, right when I was starting to have feelings for him. "You are just being overprotective, dad."
