Chapter 18

“Well,” Jimmy clears his throat and smiles. “Take that Colbert!” He screamed, holding the Emmy high in the air. “No, but seriously this may be the best day of my life. Everyone on this stage works so hard to make my dreams come true, everyone up here works so hard period. My name may be in the show’s title, but these people are the show. Thanks so much, this award is a dream come true. I’m not going to take up anyone’s time because I’m not the only one accepting an award right now.” He began getting choked up and the audience roared. “Alright, I’ll keep it to a minimum. Thank you to my family, friends, everyone on stage right now including my right hand guy A.D. Miles, one of my head writers and best friends.. love you buddy,” He looked over to me and began smiling. “And another thanks to my beautiful girlfriend, and my other genius head writer. Thanks for making this happen.”

“Congrats man!” Timberlake ran up to me outside of the venue and gave me a hug. “The first Emmy! Are we celebrating tonight?”

He was way more excited than I was. “You know we are,” I chuckled before glancing to my left. Andie and Miles were talking to some of the team and I got caught up. Her curls were being tossed around by the wind, and her laugh exposed a smile I could never become immune to. She glanced at me and waved, noticing my staring.

“That’s her, huh Fallon?” Justin nudged my arm with his elbow before putting his arm around my neck. “And you aren’t even gonna introduce me to her?!”

I elbowed him in the stomach and he loosened his grip on my neck. “No, you might try to choke her out like you just did me!”

“I promise.” He held up three fingers and chuckled, “Scout’s honor.”

I sighed and rolled my eyes. “Well, come on then.”

We approached Andie and crew, and she immediately smiled.

“Congratulations Fallon.” She wrapped both her arms around my neck and smiled. “You deserve it all, I’m so happy for you.”

“Says the girl who just won her own Emmy.” I pecked her lips and her cheeks went red. “Congratulations beautiful, I meant every word. I didn’t know life could get any better until I made you my girlfriend.”

“I might barf.” Justin chuckled before extending his hand to Andie. “You must be Andie.”

She shot her attention to Justin and placed her hand in the palm of his. “Yes, it’s so good to meet you finally.” She smiled and I was afraid he’d take my girl at this point.

“I had to come meet the girl who causes my 2am wake up calls.” Justin chuckled and turned to me. “Oh wait they’re always good calls!”

Andie smiled, breathing easier after he said that. “Good, I was gonna have to kick his ass!”

“Not if I got to you first, Sawyer.” I grabbed her hand.

“I gotta go,” Justin locked his phone and stuck it back in his pocket. “Give me a call when you’re back in New York, we can all go out to dinner with Jessica my treat!”

“Thanks man.” I gave his a hug before he darted off to his car.

“So now what?” Andie asked.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. We have a week hiatus. We could stay here and have a little vacation like everyone else.”

“That sounds nice.” She smiled.

It did sound pretty sweet to stick around in this nice weather, but I could read Andie’s expressions now and I knew she wasn’t really into sticking around in LA. The only place I could think of was Pittsburgh. She talked about not seeing her grandma since she graduated high school, and I know she missed her mom and little sisters.
