It’s been 4 months since that day in the office. Me and Jimmy barely spoke. It was always a “Hi” and “Bye” thing. In writing meetings, he usually ignores me and I’ve basically learned to deal with it. I was working for one of the best shows on television, and skits had to be ready every morning. I didn’t have time to worry about how Jimmy felt, honestly.

“Andie, can I come in?” I heard A.D. knock.

“Yeah, come on in! I’m just finishing up some stuff.” Me and A.D. have gotten pretty close over the past few months. He’s coached me on everything. He came into the room beaming.

“I have a proposition for you.” He sat in front of my desk.

“Shoot.” I kept typing up this skit for tonight, he liked to see me work diligenty.

“I’ve been head writer for Late Night and the Tonight Show for over 5 years. I’ve been the only person around here bossing every other writer around, and it’s time someone else should join me. Saturday Night Live has three head writers, I thought it’s time we’d follow in their footsteps and get a second one. I’ve asked around, a lot of the writers like their jobs. But I see something in you.”

My heart fell out of my ass. “Really?” My hands moved from the keyboard to my lap, and they were shaking.

“Yeah, you. When Lorne said you were the next Tina Fey, he wasn’t lying. Your work gets better and better everyday. And everyone here agrees with what I’m about to ask you. How would you like to be a head writer of The Tonight Show?” A.D. smiled.

“Seriously? Me?” My smile widened and I stood.

“Yes.” He nodded.

“It’d be an honor.”

“Great,” A.D. nodded. “I’ll announce it later at today’s table read. Welcome aboard.”

A.D. walked out and shut my door. I ran around screaming and crying. I just couldn’t believe it. I grabbed my phone and called my friend and now, roommate Sasha.

“Hello?” She answered.

“You will never guess what just happened.” I breathed heavily in the phone.

“You met Chris Pratt and he said you were cute?”

“I’m head writer!” I screamed.

“Of the show?” She gasped.

“No of the potato. Yes the show!”

She screamed and I screamed, we screamed and cried back and forth. I met her the same week I started here. She’s a production assistant at the Today Show. This show’s brought me to some amazing people.

Later that night, the whole world knew I was head writer and I was getting well wishes on my Twitter and from a bunch of people I haven’t talked to since college. My mom cried when I told her, and everyone in the building gave me my props. But Jimmy didn’t say anything to me all day. He usually waves or says ‘hello’, but I didn’t get a peep from him today. There was a lot on my brain so I decided to go up to the Top of The Rock. I haven’t been there since the day Jimmy and I met. I walked over to the elevators and Higgins was standing there.

“Good show tonight, Higs.” I patted his shoulder after pressing the ‘up’ button.

“Thanks! You know, I knew A.D. would make you head writer. You deserve it.”

“Thank you, coming from you that means everything.”

He nodded. “Have you spoken to Jimmy?”

“No.” I sighed.

“You goin’ up?” I pointed upward.

“Yeah.” I giggled at how purposely awkward he was being.

“Oh.. well I’ll see you on Monday, Andie. Congratulations again.” Higgins waved and got on his elevator. Mine came shortly after.

I got to the top and walked onto the observatory desk. It was beautiful. As the wind blew fiercly through my hair, I began thinking about all the things I’d do after this night. Maybe win an Emmy, go write movies, and maybe be exactly what everyone thinks I’ll be and do movies and such like Tina Fey. No matter, I know I’ve truly got a forever home. But, one thing I was missing was love. Ethan left the show two months ago after he graduated. He never talks to me. And there’s no one else I’ve met that I would even consider dating.

“You come up here too?”

I heard the voice that was all too familiar and turned around to see Jimmy, still in his suit and tie, walking towards me.

“No,” I shook my head. “Just came to think for a little.”

“I come up here all the time. It’s the only place I get to just breathe sometimes.”

I nodded. “Are things okay?”

“Yeah. They’re fine.”

“Why don’t you talk to me?”

He sighed. “I knew you’d bring this up.”
“Hey, seriously.” I said. “I want to know why you don’t talk to me.”

“I don’t want to mess everything up for you. Especially now. I should go.”

“What?” I grabbed his shoulder and he turned back around facing me again. “Tell me. What would you mess up?”

“Nothing, Andie.” He tried to walk away again. I couldn’t let him this time.

“I love you.” I called out. That stopped him in his tracks and made him do another 360.

“Yeah, I do. Every day I watch you go to work, do the show, occasionally tote Winnie around here like a princess, I watch you try to date other women and fail, I watch you ignore me. And every second of it prepared me for this. I know I’m too late, and I don’t expect you to do anything. But I just felt like you needed to know.”

He looked down at the ground before walking towards me.

“Andie, no.”

“Yes.” I nodded.

“Why? So the press can drag you in the gutter, so my ex-wife can kill us both?”

“Yes.” I nodded again. “If it means I get a chance to be with you.”

“Andie, you can’t be serious.”

I was sick of him finding excuses. I grabbed him by the tie and pulled his lips toward mine, instantly shutting him up. His tongue found its way into my mouth and explored it. I don’t know what kind of trouble I just got myself into, but if this is how it felt? I liked trouble

- sorry this sucked and sorry it took SO LONG. Job, school, and writer's block messed me up. hopefully I can keep the flow going. Vote & Comment, PLEASE!
