“Hello?” I answered the phone.
“Jimmy!” Drew exclaimed, prompting a smile on my face. “I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time, but this is last minute. My Frankie’s birthday party is Sunday afternoon. I told Nancy to tell you, but she was up at Winnipesaukee all week. It’s at the house in the Hamptons. I’m hoping you’ll bring Andie.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. We’ll be there!”
“Sweet! I don’t want to hold you up, so I’m going to text you the details. I’ll see you there.” She said calmly.
“Oh sure,” I nodded. “I can’t wait.”
“Okay, thanks so much Jim.” She hung up.
I realized I was still holding Andie, so I put her down and she was grinning.
“What?” I chuckled.
“That was Drew Barrymore.”
“I know!” I grabbed my milkshake and tilted my head, signaling for her to follow me. We walked into my bedroom and she jumped in the covers.
“Jimmy..” Andie watched me as I sat the milkshake on the nightstand and crawled in next to her.
“What’s wrong?”
She sighed. “Oh nothing, you were talking to my idol and favorite person ever on the phone. No big deal.”
“Oh you like Drew?” I laughed and leaned in closer.
“She’s the reason I love you! Fever Pitch made me fall so hard for you.”
I grabbed her hand under the sheets. “You fell hard for me, huh?”
She giggled and tightened her grasp on my hand. “You know I did.”
“Same.”
She smiled widely and moved closer, leaving her lips centimeters away from mine. "Same."
I chuckled and whispered, "Is 'same' going to be our thing?"
"Aw, I get to have a thing with you." She giggled, still silently speaking. “You know, I’m so happy I decided to let you make a move on me.”
I pecked her lips twice. “I just feel like I found my missing piece, you know?”
“Yeah,” She giggled and looked down. “Same.”
She let me pull her in and spoon with her for a few minutes until she bounced back up again.
“You never told me why Drew Barrymore called?”
“Oh, we’re going to her son’s party on Sunday.” I reached over and grabbed my milkshake.
“What?”
“I said we’re-”
She cut me off. “I get to meet her. This weekend?!”
I nodded. “Yeah, I think you two would hit it off.”
“This is so much. This is too much.” She kept repeating.
“Wait no, we don’t have to go. I’ll tell her we aren’t coming.”
“No! I meant this is too much in a good way! This is incredible.”
For the rest of the night we just stayed up and talked. It was nice to have so much in common with her.
Andie’s POV
I woke up Sunday morning in Jimmy’s bed, where I’ve woken up for the second time in a row. This was a habit I wasn’t trying to kick. He was still sleeping, facing me. He lips curved slightly, creating a simple smile. I laid back down, trying to mimic his pose. I kissed his lips and I felt him breathe in deeply, waking up. He didn’t move or sit up. We sort of just stayed in that position. Quiet.
