Life's a constant popularity contest- especially at Foxfire High. When Keefe Sencen is kicked from the popular crowd, the school queen bee - Sophie Foster - befriends him. Keefe then realizes that being popular isn't an advantage. Sophie realizes th...
"Too purple?" I wondered, eyeing my magenta back-to-school dress, "Yep."
I wanted to be popular this year. I couldn't re-live last year...I just couldn't. Besides. I had to make some new friends, anyway. After all, my friends dropped her like a hot potato when Fitz - I stopped herself. He wasn't even worth mentioning. That stupid Ritz Cracker. (sorry, couldn't help myself ;)) Anyways. Back to the outfit. I needed to pair it with something cute..."AHA!" I called out triumphantly, to absolutely no one. I had found the PERFECT black tank and plaid skirt! Now all I had to do was find some accessories...
~ After lots (LOTS) of time passed... ~
"YESSS! PERFECT!" I screamed, after finding a FABULOUS outfit.

"Edaline?" I called for my foster mom, "I'm heading over to school now!"
I waited for a second, and when I didn't hear a response, I strolled down the stairs to see where she was. I expected her to be on the call with her zoologist company. Or to be cooking Mallowmelt. She wasn't doing either of those. She was doing both.
"Mm-hm? So Verdi needs some Achapocho Seeds? Alright, I'll send those over as soon as possible. Listen, it's my daughter's first day of High School, so I gotta go-" she paused, seeming to notice me for the first time. Her eyes watered.
"Honey, you look so beautiful. Doesn't she, Grady?"
Grady, my foster father, seemed to appear out of thin air.
"Yes, she does" Grady conceded. "But.." he continued, eyeing my outfit, "Isn't it a bit too...revealing?"
"Daaaaaaaad. So not the time! I gotta go - bye!" I said hurriedly, not wanting another one of 'those talks'. Right before I dashed out of the house, Grady and Edaline pulled me into one of the hugs that makes me feel like everything is going to be okay.
Before the waterworks start pouring, I dash out of the house. I know if I stay too long with them, I'll end up pouring my soul out. And I can't do that. At least not now.
~ After a few minutes ~
Take a guess how great my life is. First up, I get lost in my own neighborhood! Then, I realize I still need to get to school early. Last but not least, I finally reach the school, and I realize, I forgot my freaking science book! I mean, science was one of my best classes! What if I messed up because I forgot the stupid book?! Anyways, I guess I was super distracted when I was walking out the Foxfire doors to get my books because I didn't notice the person standing right in front of me. We ran straight into each other. Someone let out a squeal - maybe me? I don't know. What I do know is it hurt. Oof.
