Chapter 8 - Keefe

Recap:

Right as I was going to rush to class, Biana, my best friend Fitz's sister, walked up to me.

"Oh, heyy Keefe! Didn't expect to see you here!" she greeted, though she obviously did

"Right. Hey, Bi. I really gotta get to class-" I started.

"Hold on. This won't take long," she interrupted, holding up a perfectly manicured finger. That was the thing about Biana. She was pretty, sure, but..it wasn't so natural, like Sophie. Sophie had this, well, natural beauty that lacked on Biana. My thoughts were so rudely interrupted when Biana blurted out, "I like you, Keefe."

Her eyes shifted to my lips and she leaned in towards me and closed her eyes. I sucked in a breath, and...

I turned away, and took a step back. When she finally realized I wasn't leaning in towards her, she looked up at me, confused. "What are you doing?" she questioned, like she really didn't know.

"What are you doing? Listen, Biana, I love you..." I started, and I saw her begin to squeal, "Like a little sister."

She stopped, in the middle of coming towards me. "What..?"

I sucked in a breath. "You heard me, Bi. I like you...but as family, only. Nothing more."

"You...you're sure you're not mixing things up? After all, you said you love me, right? Couldn't you mix up sibling love to romantic love?" she asked hopefully.

I wanted to say yes, as I saw her plead. It would certainly save our friendship if I did. But...I truly only cared for her like a little sister. 

I came up with the only metaphor I could think of. "I can love you romantically as easily as you can love Fitz romantically."

She crinkled her nose up in disgust, "First of all, ew. And second of all....KEEFE SENCEN YOU LITTLE SCUMBAG! IF YOU DON'T LIKE ME, FINE! YOUR LOSS! I NEVER REALLY CARED FOR YOU ANYWAY!!" she screamed in my face, then stalked away.

I was at a loss of words. And then I remembered. Fitz always finds out about Biana's romantic "flings". Well, this didn't technically count as that, but...I had a feeling Fitz would react worse than he did with Biana's little boyfriends. You know what, maybe I'm wrong! Maybe she'll just get over me real quick. I mean, sure, it will hurt  if she's able to get over the Keefester that fast, but...come on. It's not like I broke her heart or anything, right?
