"So, who's the special guy?" Edaline said out of nowhere.

"Gahh! Mom- don't sneak up on me like that! And...what do you mean by 'Who's the special guy'?" I gasped. She couldn't know...could she?

"Oh, don't deny it. You may be able to fool Grady, but not me. It's all visible in your dopey green and lovey dovey smile," Edaline laughed, "So, who's the lucky dude?"

"What...Keefe Sencen!" I sputtered, and I could feel my cheeks turning bright red. It didn't really help that I smiled when I said his name.

"Ahh, okay. I can see how much you like this guy. So, have you kissed?" Edaline asked suddenly.

"I- Mom! Noo!" I lied, hoping she bought it. She didn't.

"How many times? Once? Twice?" she questioned.

"maybefourtimesbutitsnotabigdeal.." I mumbled, my cheeks burning.

"FOUR TIMES?! EEEEEEK!! OMG- YOU CAN NOT TELL GRADY.." Edaline squealed.

"Wasn't planning on it," I laughed nervously, "And you better not be either!" She simply crossed her finger over her heart as if to say "Cross my heart and hope to die."

"When are you going on a date?" Edaline questioned.

"He didn't ask me. I don't even think he likes me like that.." I responded, too disappointed to feel embarrassed.

"Soph, you guys kissed four times. And he didn't run away screaming when Grady came out. That's gotta account for something. My bet's on that he'll ask you out as soon as you give him some signals that you like him back!" Edaline exclaimed passionately. Not gonna lie, I was hoping she was right. Edaline must've noticed what I was thinking, because she gave me a knowing smile and exited the room. In a few seconds, I got a text that read:

Hey, Foster. It's Keefe.

I took in a deep breath and typed back,

Hey, Keefe.

Then I typed something that I never would have managed the guts to say before the talk with Edaline. It was time to give this boy some signals.

Ooh, cliffy! I wonder what she typed..*insert evil laugh*
