I paced my room nervously, waiting for Keefe to arrive. I didn't think he'd take my joke so seriously! Not that I minded...whatever. If I'm being honest, I may have out a little bit of makeup on and just might've put on a fitted red tank top because red really complimented my complexion.
"Foster? Ya decent?" Keefe called from outside my door. I sucked in a breath, and checked my mirror for a quick second. I fixed a few strands of my hair.
Ugh, Sophie. When did you become one of those lovesick girls?
Not that that thought was a confession, or anything. I don't even know why you're thinking that! Before Keefe could bang my door down (and totally not because I wanted to avoid this convo with myself) I opened the door.
"Hi, Foste- woah," Keefe greeted, eyes widening and jaw dropping. I blushed and turned my gaze to the floor.
"Hey, Keefe. So, why'd you come over?" I asked coolly, then internally smacked myself for my forgetfulness.
"You already forgot our call, Foster?" Keefe asked, clutching his chest in mock hurt, "My heart hurts." I rolled my eyes, but who was I kidding.
I liked, no loved Keefe's jokes.
And he knew it.
And I hated it.
"Soo," I put out there awkwardly, fidgeting with my shirt.
"Soo," Keefe mimicked, making me blush in embarrassment and look down at the floor.
He lifted my chin up softly with his fingers and said, "Now, now, Soph. Don't look down - we do 't want you hiding that pretty face of yours, do we?" He then made me experience a completely different kind of blush on my face.
"Didn't know you were such a flirt," I blurted, not knowing what else to say.
"Yes, you did," Keefe said pointedly, but laughing with his eyes.
"Yeah, I did," I agreed, giggling. Ugh- giggling? Get it together, Sophie!
Keefe seemed to notice the change in my behavior and how embarrassed I was about it."Come on, Miss F. Don't change for lil ol' me! You'll disappoint all your fans!" he teased.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. Whatcha wanna do?"
Keefe wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"That eyebrow wiggle better not mean what I think it means," I warned him, "Especially not with Grady in the other room."
Keefe noticeably gulped and looked behind him really quickly before facing me again.
"Come onnn, Foster. I'm booooored! Plus, you owe me three of these," Keefe whined, blowing little kisses. I smiled sweetly at him, then copied his movement.
"There you go. Happy?" I laughed when he pouted like a moody toddler. I leaned over and pecked him on the lips. It was short, sure, but sweet.
"I- uhh, umm..." Keefe stammered, at a loss for words. His cheeks were neon red. Hmm. Guess that's one way to shut him up.
I rolled my eyes, "Oh, shut up and kiss me already." He nodded eagerly and stepped closer to me. He placed his lips on mine softly, and as usual, I was the one to deepen the kiss. I pulled him closed and ran my hands through his hair - Omigod, how did he get it so soft?!
"Checking out The Hair, Foster?" he chuckled.
"Shush," I ordered, and I felt him smile against my lips. After a while, we pulled away and smiled at each other. Way too soon, he had to leave, according to someone *cough* Grady *cough*'s orders.
We leaned towards each other and were about to give each other a quick goodbye kiss when Grady cleared his throat and glowered at us. I rolled my eyes.
"Hey, did this count as our first date?" Keefe whispered. My heart fluttered at the noticeable word "first".
"Yeah, guess so," I mumbled back, glad my voice held steady. "I had a really good time."
Keefe gave me an unbearably sweet smile before stepping out of the house.
"Me too, Foster. Me too."
That night I dreamed of ice blue eyes and a crooked smirk.
WOOHOO! TWO CHAPTERS IN A DAY! Also, I'm getting in some major SOKEEFE fluff 😏. Also, expect some #FitzVackerRitzCrackerTheSinglePringle by the end of the book! If y'all are wondering, no, I don't hate Fitz. I just want him to love Sophie but not be able to get her, and be alone and lonely for the rest of his life. As if you don't! ;))
