As my ride pulled up to my house, I let out a dreamy sigh.

I admit, I'm starting to get all those Hallmark movies now.

Walking through the door, I heard a faint 'click' as the lightswitch flipped on. I shielded my face, surprised by the sudden brightness.

"So," Grady said, "look who's finally back."

"Yes?" I responded, confused at the 'finally'.

"I told you to be back by 10," he grumbled.

"No, you didn't!" I argued. I hope he didn't notice that I was only faintly sure of myself.

Glancing at the clock, annoyance buzzed through me.

"Besides, it is 10:00!" I pointed out, trying - and failing - to get the annoyance out of my tone.

Grady said nothing.

Many seconds passed by, and still nothing.

I was starting to walk away, when he said, "Now it's 10:01."

Amusement flowed through me. Okay, still a bit peeved, but amused.

A smile threatening to break free, I said, "You waited 30 or 40 seconds just so you could say I was late?"

Now he looked a bit reprimanded. "Maybe," he admitted.

"So...did he kiss you?" Grady asked?

Could this get any more awkward?

"What happened tonight is between me and Keefe," I responded, blush creeping up my neck.

"So that's a yes?" he pressed.

Saving me from having to answer, Edaline came rushing to my rescue.

"I'm sure Sophie's quite tired, so maybe we can save the questioning for tomorrow?" she suggested.

Grady grumbled, but soon agreed.

Before he could change his mind, I called a quick "goodnight" and rushed to my bedroom. Now that Edaline mentioned it, I was  a bit tired.

Just as I was dozing off to sleep, I heard a quick knock on the door. Looking up, I saw it was Edaline.

"So...did he?" she asked.

"Did who what?"

I was confused, but not completely sure I wanted to know the answer.

"Did Keefe kiss you?" She had one of those goofy grins spreading across her face, and I wasn't sure if that was better or worse than Grady's interrogation.

"Mom!" I complained!

"Fine. Goodnight, sweetie," she said, giving me a quick kiss on the forehead.

Just as I thought she was gone, she peeked her head around the corner.

"So that was a yes, right?" she asked eagerly.

I rolled my eyes, but in a fond way. "Yes, Edaline, that was a yes. Can I go to sleep now?"

"Right! Sorry! Love you!"

A smile spread across my lips. "Love you, too."

I soon drifted away to sleep, peacefully. Maybe more peaceful than I should've. I don't think I would've been this happy if I knew what Keefe was doing right as I dozed off..
