It was that day again. You were running through the streets you grew up in while a swarm of people ran in the opposite direction.

"BEN!" "BENNN!" You screamed, your eyes scanning the collapsed houses looking for any signs of life.

Your body froze when you saw your brother partially crushed underneath some rubble. You could see blood pooling from underneath his body.

You sprinted as fast as you could to your brothers side, frantically clawing at the debris in attempt to free him. You could see that his breathing was shallow and his eyes fluttered shut.

"No no no please no" you whimpered as you watched your brothers life fade.

An older man grabbed your waist and began pulling you in the direction of the gate that lead to wall rose.

"WAIT PLEASE, MY BROTHER!!" You screamed as you tried to pull away from his grip.

"ITS TOO LATE FOR HIM" the man yelled over the cries of the crowd.

You tried to speak, but all that came out was sobs. The man dragged you to the gate as you crumbled.

I jolted upright from my bed breathing heavily.
It had been 4 years since the incident, but it still haunted my dreams almost nightly.

I stayed in bed for a few minutes to allow my breathing to steady before getting up and preparing for my day.

I put on a white blouse with a black skirt instead of my usual scrubs, as I had gotten a letter a few days ago informing me the leaders of the scout regiment wished to meet with me today. I had no idea why they would possibly want to talk to me, but I was nervous as hell. I had spent all day yesterday cleaning my house, but I checked to make sure every nook and cranny was spotless until I heard the sound of hooves approaching my house. I tried to remain calm, but when I heard a knock on the door I nearly jumped out of my skin.

I frantically brushed off my clothes and took a deep breath before opening the door. Standing before me was a tall blonde man alongside a much shorter man with black hair.

"Hello. I am commander Erwin of the scout regiment, and this is captain Levi of the survey corps. Am I speaking to doctor Y/n?" The blonde man questioned.

"That would be me! Please come in." I smiled and tried to hide the quiver in my voice.

"Ok! We'll get straight to business then." Erwin smiled as I gestured for them to sit at my kitchen table.

"So miss y/n, as you most likely know the scout regiment is in charge of missions outside the walls. We specialize in titan research, which is an extremely dangerous job."

"Yes, I've treated a few of your soldiers upon your return." I stated.

"We've heard, and I must say everyone is extremely impressed with how good you are at your job. You're widely seen as one of the best doctors in wall sina."

"Thank you sir." I internally gave a sigh of relief realizing I wasn't in any trouble.
As I relaxed a bit I glanced over at captain Levi. He leaned back against the chair with his arms crossed and a blank expression on his face. He must've felt me staring, as his eyes shot up from the table to meet yours. I quickly looked back to Erwin while wiping the sweat off off my palms onto my skirt. Damn he was intimidating.

"Because of your prowess in the medical field, we would like to offer you a position with us. We've lost countless lives over the years that could've been prevented if they had gotten treatment in time. We decided it would be best to find a medic to travel with us and provide immediate care to the injured.
The final decision is up to you, but-"

"I'll do it." I interjected. "Oh, sorry for interrupting haha" I laughed nervously.

Commander Erwin looked at you in shock, his mouth slightly hanging open while Captain Levi raised his eyebrows at you.

"You do know there's a high likelihood you'll die out there right?" Levi finally spoke.

"Yes sir, I'm aware of the risks."

"V-very well. We're honored to have you in the scouts." Erwin stammered. "We will send a carriage here in three days. Make sure to bring any belongings you may need. We have medical equipment of our own, so there's no need to bring anything like that."

The men left shortly after, captain Levi glancing back at you on his way out.

I sighed as the noise of the carriage faded. This was gonna be interesting.
