Over a week had passed and I'd gotten exceptionally better at fighting. I upgraded from using my fists to a wooden sword, and I'd made good progress. There were still a couple people I couldn't defeat, but with at the practicing and working out on the side I was finally able to beat Petra. While she was a few inches shorter than me she was still experienced and tough, so I was proud of myself.

I headed out to the training yard in the morning as I had been for the past few days where I was stopped by Levi and a tall blonde man with a stubbled chin.

"Were using ODM gear today, come on." Levi said bluntly.

"Wait what? Really?" I questioned excitedly, my eyes lighting up.

"You heard me. Go get your horse."

"Umm about that, I don't have one.." I said sheepishly scratching the back of my neck.

"You've been here almost two weeks and still don't have a damn horse?" He sighed annoyedly.

"Don't worry about it, you can ride with me for today. Im Eld Gin, I'll be helping you get set up." The other man chimed in.

"Thank you Eld, I'm Y/n."

"Let's get going." Eld smiled.

We got saddled up and rode towards a forest nearby. Levi leading on his black horse with Eld and I close behind. Eld sat in front at the reigns while I loosely held onto his waist. No one spoke until the trees came into view.

"Holy shit those are huge! I've never seen trees that big!" I yelled over the noise of the horses galloping.

"That's why we use them to train, they're perfect for ODM gear." Eld mentioned glancing back at me.

We quickly approached the forest and hopped off the horses. Eld went to tie them up at a hitching post nearby as I jogged up to one of the trees and put my hand on it.

"They're beautiful." I sighed looking up in awe at the massive plant.

"Quit obsessing over a damn tree and let's get to work." Levi said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"You're no fun." I sighed making a pouting face. I turned back to face him and eld, who was walking over with an extra set of gear.

Eld handed me harness as I inspected it with wide eyes. I'd seen soldiers wear ODM gear, but I've never seen it in action, let alone touched it. To be honest I was completely geeking out.

He quickly showed me how to put it on and explained what each part did. It was a bit heavy, but I assumed I'd get used to it over time.

"Ok, now try grappling to a tree without going up it." Eld said and pointed to a spot on a tree about 12 feet off the ground.

I lifted my arm and aimed at the tree, as I steadied myself I exhaled deeply and pulled the top trigger, sending a hook shooting out of my gear and firmly into the trees bark.

"HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING!" I shouted, barely containing my excitement as I bounced up and down slightly.

"Now do the same to the tree on your other side." Eld said with a slight smile on his face.

I did as instructed and took a deep breath, attempting to calm myself and seem serious.

"Great! Now slowly use your gas and lift yourself off the ground."
