Three days later you were all packed and ready to go.
The carriage arrived swiftly and you climbed in and began your new life.

After a few hours of riding in the carriage we arrived at the survey corps headquarters.
I stepped out of the carriage and gazed over the building. It looked like a castle from the books I would read as a kid. The watch towers were perfect cylinders-

"Oi, are you even listening?" Levi said with an annoyed expression on his face, snapping me out of my trance.

"Oh! Sorry, I was just admiring the architecture.. heh" I laughed awkwardly.

"It really is a beauty isn't it?" Erwin chuckled glancing at the structure.

"Anyways, I'd like to officially welcome you to the survey corps headquarters. I'll have someone escort you to your sleeping quarters and give you a tour of the premises. Wait here please."

"Thank you sir, I'm honored to be here." I said and saluted.

Erwin raised his eyebrows a bit and smiled, seemingly surprised I knew how to salute properly. He then turned and headed into the building

After a few minutes of waiting outside, Erwin walked out with a slightly shorter woman by his side. She had her brunette hair in a ponytail along with a pair of glasses.

"Y/n, this is squad leader Hange Zoe. She will give you a tour of hq."

"Nice to meet you! I'm sooo excited to get to know all about you!" Hange beamed.

"Um,, thank you." I said sheepishly. This was going to take some getting used to, especially if she's this animated all of the time.

Hange dragged me all around the base, explaining rather enthusiastically which rooms were which and who occupied which room.

"This is Erwins office! And that's humanity's smallest next to it." I attempted to stifle my laughter at the comment.

"Hey! I'd appreciate it if you two would shut the fuck up, I'm trying to work." A very irritated Levi shouted through the door. Hange and I looked at each other with wide eyes before cracking up even more.

"We better go before we lose our heads." Hange managed to say while laughing. We walked away quickly from the door and headed towards the dining hall as the sun was setting.

We entered the room and sat at a table with Erwin and a blonde man with a slight mustache and beard.
Just as we got settled in our seats, the blonde man leaned over the table and started sniffing my head.

"Uhhhh excuse me?" I mumbled leaning back slightly.

"Don't worry about him, Mike has a habit of smelling new people. He's harmless... well to other humans that is." Hange whispered in my ear.
Mike leaned back in his seat and stretched out his hand.

"I'm squad leader Mike Zacharias. Nice to meet you." He greeted.

I awkwardly shook his hand and smiled. Just as we let go captain Levi walked up to the table and sat down next to Erwin with a cup of tea.

"Cmon Levi, you know you can't just drink tea for dinner again, it's not healthy." Hange stated with a wry grin on her face.

"Im fine."

"Why don't we ask Y/n here! She's the new doctor after all." Hange gestured towards me. Levi glared over at me while sipping his tea, holding it by the cup instead of the handle.

"Umm, wellll Hange is right. it's important to eat regularly, and drinking too much tea can affect your sleep schedule." I said sheepishly.

"Well that explains why you never sleep!" Hange exclaimed. Erwin and mike chuckled at the statement.

"Tch, I sleep a perfect amount. If you really want to talk about unhealthy habits, why don't we talk about your poor hygiene?"

"Well excuse me for saving water only for when it's absolutely necessary." Hange scoffed and took a bite of her bread.

"Disgusting."

After eating I headed to the room I was assigned and started to unpack. Normally new recruits sleep in dormitories, but I was a slightly higher rank being a doctor, so I got my own room which was nice. I opened my suitcase and carefully picked up the portrait of my brother and me. He had gotten it drawn for my 20th birthday by his friend. I was lucky enough to have it in my bag when wall shiganshina fell, otherwise I don't know if I'd have remembered his face after all these years.
I sighed and held back tears as I carefully placed it on my bedside table.

I finished unpacking the rest of my belongings and flopped on my bed. The mattress was a little stiffer than the one back home, but it'll have to do.
I lay there for a bit before feeling my eyelids grow heavy, I succumb to fatigue and fell into another restless sleep.
