The last thing you remembered was walking home after dark and being confronted by five guys at once. They said something about you being the key to bringing down an enemy and then everything just went black. You didn't catch their names or anything to clue who or what they were with but when you woke up you soon figured it out.
None other than HYDRA.
You were in a dark room, chained to a steel chair that had very concerning blood stains splattered everywhere, and right in front of you was their banner. It wasn't exactly subtle but that was the least of your worries at this moment.
A guy clad in black with a gun strapped to his side had just entered the room but he was cast in shadow so you couldn't see his face yet.
"What do you want?" You asked in a deadpan voice, trying not to show the fear that was engulfing you every second.
"Captain Rogers." A cold and drawling voice answered back. You swore you recognised it but quickly brushed the feeling away.
"And why would I know an Avenger?" You questioned.
"Because you've been living with one for fourteen months." The guy stepped forward into the limited light and you inhaled sharply, forcing a smile. "Miss me, (y/n)?"
"It's the asshat!" You exclaimed, now forcing a laugh instead. "Don't tell me you're jealous I've moved on."
Byron, your darling ex and stalker, bent down in front of the chair so he was your height. "Never."
"Then what's all this for?" You looked around the dark room and tried to motion with your chained wrists. "You've become far more adventurous. I remember when it was just rope."
He mocked a look of reminiscence before standing up again. "Steve Rogers, (y/n), where is he?"
You shrugged as much as you could. "No idea."
Noticing the anger that flared in Byron's features made you quite content for a second. "This is not a time for your games."
"And I was so looking forward to a night of monopoly."
"Tell me!"
"Look, don't you think I would know if I was living with someone famous? I've always been a little daydreamy but I think I'd notice that one."
"Fine. Another question."
You rolled your eyes and sighed. "Okay, shoot. The question, obviously, not the gun."
"There's word that the Avengers are planning to attack one of our outposts. When and where?"
You shrugged without answering. Byron really looked like his patience was being tested and the sight was amusing but also terrifying. You knew how he got when angry but Steve had saved you from that long ago.
"When and where are the Avengers attacking next?" Byron asked louder this time. When you still didn't answer he smacked you and the sound echoed in the dark room. "Are you deaf?"
You simply forced yet another smile as you turned to look back at him. "I don't know. Let's see, shall we? Try begging for your life like the last time we spoke."
Byron chuckled dryly and decided to take out the gun strapped to his side. He pointed it at your temple with a cruel glint in his eyes. "You might want to answer the questions, (y/n)."
Glaring, you pressed your head against the cold gun barrel. "I. Don't. Know."
Just then the whole building shook and you noticed dust fall from the ceiling. Byron stumbled back and you simply relaxed with what was now a genuine smile playing on your features.
"What is this?" Byron asked, standing up and looking around.
"Maybe a dragon landed on the roof and has come to eat us all?" You guessed with a child-like curiosity despite knowing perfectly well what, or who, it was.
-
You had been stuck in the same room with Byron for about five or ten minutes now. He was pacing around with his gun, throwing you glares and death stares while you casually flipped him off every few seconds.
By now there were noises of struggle and gunfire echoing around the entire building as the ones who had broken in got closer to your location.
Eventually though, it seemed Byron had had enough as he muttered something under his breath and looked at you. "Don't you move."
You raised a brow and looked at the chains around you. "I guess my evening jog is off the table then."
He didn't respond and just tore open the metal door and left. It was just ten seconds after that that Byron's unconscious body came flying back into the room and smacked into the opposite wall with a thud.
"Honey, I'm home." Steve, your boyfriend, announced as he walked into the room.
He saw you and ran over, breaking the chains that locked you down with ease. You quickly leapt into his arms and held him tightly.
"Hi, sweetie." You smiled. "And what time do you call this?"
