"I'm outside right now, okay?" You said in an exasperated tone. "Don't worry, Nat. I'm not going to be late. See ya."
You quickly hung up before your new friend could lecture you on punctuality and stopped outside the Avengers building to put your phone away. It was your first week on the team and you had been introduced to almost everyone. But, as you looked back up to enter the building, you collided with someone.
It was a blonde woman who you hadn't seen before and she looked to be entering the building as well. She had been looking at something in the street and hadn't noticed you either.
"So sorry!" You quickly said, instinctively reaching out to keep her steady.
"What the-" She muttered something under her breath and looked at you, immediately going silent. Then she raised an eyebrow in what seemed like an intrigued fashion. "Hello."
You were actually quite stunned when you looked at her. She was very beautiful and had an accent. Russian by the sounds of it.
"Hi." You greeted. "The name's (y/n)."
"Yelena. I'm-"
"-Natasha's sister?" You finished in surprise.
"You're the new girl?" Yelena asked in the same tone.
"Yeah."
"It's nice to-"
Before you could finish formalities, the sound of a raspberry being blown caught both of your attention and you saw a little kid go by on a scooter. He had his tongue stuck out at both of you and was just being one of those asshole kids that go by. But you and Yelena both laughed hysterically when the kid's scooter caught on a rock and he went flying.
"How was the trip?" Yelena called out to the kid as he struggled to stand.
"Send a postcard next time." You teased.
Still laughing at the look on his face, you and her walked inside the Avengers building, making more flying jokes and puns as you went for the stairs. However, you were stopped by Natasha as she had come down to check on what the noise was.
"You okay?" You asked when she stopped dead to stare at you and Yelena curiously.
"I thought you guys were fighting." She stated.
"Fighting?" Yelena questioned. "Why would we be fighting?"
"Well, you're both antisocial misfits filled with anger and rage."
"Is that why you didn't want me to meet her?"
"And why you haven't introduced me to everyone yet?" You also asked.
Natasha shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah."
"What did you think would happen?"
She gave you a look, like it was obvious. "Maybe... Murder?"
You looked at Yelena. "You wanna murder me?"
She looked back at you for a few seconds before smiling. "Nope."
"So, you two are really getting along, huh?" Natasha asked.
"Yes." Yelena answered first. "We found out we both laugh when children fall over."
You laughed softly. "How can you not?"
"Exactly."
Natasha looked between you and shook her head, smiling. "In any case, there's still a meeting upstairs. Let's go."
