Everyone's eyes flooded over to the new guardian. He stood up tall from his seat.

"Thank you everyone for this honor. I truly appreciate it. But I'm very busy as it is as the healer. I do not think I would be very good at either while attempting to do both."

"Are you declining the position?" Ulrich asked him.

"Yes. I'm afraid I am." Romulus explained before returning to his seat.

"Very well, Romulus. I admire your dedication to your craft. Well. Second place then. The person with the second highest vote count was..Oh god..Sirius." My dad had a wave a disappointment cloaked his face.

He sprang up from his seat onto his feet. He let out a cheer for himself.

"Heck yeah, I'll take it!"

His buddies cheered for him.

"Alright. Sirius has agreed to take responsibility as the new guardian. Will you please-."

Romulus tapped me on the shoulder quietly as my dad continued his speech to Sirius.

"Do. Do you see that?" Romulus pointed out to the window. There was a man. A naked man stumbling down from the woods. He carried his limbs like they were heavy weights. A few other people noticed it and began to whisper.

"Ulrich. There's someone out there. May I?" He didn't take his eyes off the man on the hill.

Ulrich agreed. Romulus sprang from his seat and booked it outside. The dazing man had tripped, stumbling down the hill.

The pack followed Romulus outside. The man stumbled down to Romulus's feet. He wrapped his arms around himself before falling unconscious. He was covered in dirt and grass stains.

"Who is he?" Everyone began to talk.

His hair was long and the color of walnuts. His face was chiseled. Romulus moved out his arm, revealing a large bite mark in his inner wrist. Everyone gasped.

"He's been turned. Romulus, take him to the healing room. Looks like we have a new youngling." My father had said.

Romulus scooped up the naked man into his arms effortlessly and carried him inside.

"Looks like you aren't the baby of the bunch anymore." Bayne came up to me. Everyone began to filter back inside.

"Is he going to be okay?" I asked.

"I think so. He'll probably be in shock for a bit, but he'll come around. Just like you did."

He said. We waited for Romulus to return and update us on the new youngling. There was chatter. Romulus had came out.

"Erin, I need you for a moment." He said. I followed into the healing room.

I felt like it was always me. I followed him back to the healing room. He had the man dressed in a pair of red basketball shorts. He still was passed out. Romulus was in the early stages of treating his wounds.

"Let me guess, someone thinks me or Bayne had something to do with this?" I said.

"I sure hope not. You two deserve to catch a break. No, I just need your teeth."

"My teeth?" He said.

"Yes. Wanna sit down?" He said. I did as he obeyed, despite his bazaar request. I watched him shuffle around in one of his drawers. He pulled out a small item plastic that was 'C' shaped. He slipped blue gloves over his hands.

"What's that?" I asked.

"A mouth guard." He said. He began to pour in a thick substance that resembled dough inside the mouth guard.

"Open wide." He said. I did as he commanded. He stuffed the mouth guard into my mouth, causing me to choke and gag. He held it there for thirty seconds. Drool dribbled down my shirt. He yanked it away, causing my gums to be sore. The paste tasted like glue.

"Sorry about that." He said.

"What was that?" I ran my tongue across my upper teeth, feeling the thick substance still on my teeth.

"I need molds of your teeth. Now that you're officially a pack member. We take them for instances like this. We can prove no one bit him if none of our pack if the teeth marks don't match up. One more time, I need your bottom teeth." He said.

I opened wide as he stuffed the mouth guard onto the bottom of my teeth. I had felt like I was attending an orthodontist appointment.

"Thanks." He said, as he took out the second mold. Saliva and fragments of the mold paste slid down my chin. I got up to wipe it off and run my mouth under the sink.

"How long until he wakes up?" I asked, rinsing my hands off in the sink of the connecting bathroom. The man in the bed was still as stiff as a board.

"Who knows. Some take hours, some take days. I heard Sirius took a whole week." He said.

I left, running into Nadine. Her hair was down. She wore a cropped T-shirt and tight jean shorts.

"Is the new guy in there? Everyone's asking about him!" Nadine said.

"Yeah, he is. Looks pretty wiped out."

"How does it feel to not be the youngest child anymore?" She asked.

"Pretty good, actually. Less attention off me."

"How'd the voting go?"

I had almost forgotten Nadine wasn't there. I had to fill her in on the entire events of the day. Her talkative energy didn't slow down. She couldn't seem to sit still.

"Sirius! That's a choice!" She laughed.

"Are you good Nadine? Not that it's a bad thing, but you seem more excitable than usual." I pointed out.

"Well, since you asked..." She pulled me close and whispered in my ear.

"It's your dad! I think he's going to propose!"
