Emily Osborn was terrified for the life of her son ever since she left Norman when Harry was two years old after she attempted to fake her death. She hadn't even been allowed to talk to Harry because Norman got a restraining order against her after she kept trying to get custody of Harry and resorted to faking her death and kidnapping Harry. That's when she officially left Norman, or well, Norman left her. Norman had found her while she was sneaking Harry out. He reported her as still living and she was put in prison for a while with no contact to Harry. She also lost contact with Richard and Mary who died a few years after she was put in prison. She knew that their son wouldn't even really know who she was. Now, that monster Norman was entering her life again with an enormous task. She had to pose as Emma Lyman and befriend May Parker. She suspected it had to do with May's nephew Peter who was her and Norman's godson, but she wouldn't say anything against Norman or his plans. She would do whatever it takes to keep Harry safe from Norman. Whomever Peter has become in his short life, she feels sorry for him for gaining the attention of Norman Osborn.

"Mary, Richard, Please forgive me for whatever part I am playing in Norman's plan. I don't want anything to happen to him, he is my godson, but I have to protect my son first. I fear that Norman has plans for Peter, and I'm sorry, but I have to follow his instructions or he'll kill Harry. Please forgive me."

Emily pleaded as she assumed her new identity to trick May Parker. Emily Osborn became Emma Lyman.

Emily Osborn only talked to May once when they were at Mary's baby shower for Peter. There was no way she would be recognized, especially since her appearance was completely changed and she had new records of birth and identification and her finger prints had been burned off. May Parker is stationed in the Queens Memorial Maternity ward, so that's where Emma Lyman applied to be stationed and with her fake credentials was readily accepted. May didn't recognize her voice, and they quickly became friends. All Emma had to do now was wait for further instructions from Norman. In the process she had learned that less than a month ago Peter and May had lost Ben to a robbery gone wrong. Emma comforted May as she silently wept in the break room. What was she doing? How could she do this? Is it worth it? Would Norman really kill Harry if she didn't do this? Emma hated every part of this, but she couldn't chance Norman's rage. She had to protect her son.

Emma's phone pinged with a new set of instructions fairly quick after befriending May. She has to somehow get May Parker to list her as caretaker for Peter in the event of her death. This would be no easy task, but since Ben recently died, maybe she'll be able to convince May that it's a good idea to have a plan because her death is a possibility, especially if Norman's plan works.
