Chapter Twelve: Missing Kids and a Worried Stark

Norman reported Harry as missing the next morning. The police of course didn't find any evidence as to why he was missing. There were still no leads on who Emma Lyman really is either. Stark contacted Norman later that day when he saw the missing report concerning Harry run on the news.

"Norman, I'm sorry your son went missing, but my mentee went missing too. Do you think someone could be targeting our businesses to get ransom? I haven't gotten any demands yet, but I still cannot rule it out."

Norman mustered up the most sincere voice he could and replied "I really don't know Stark, but if I find anything out about either of our kid's disappearances I will let you know."

Tony huffed a little and said "Thanks. I'll let you know if I find anything too." and hung up shortly after.

Norman left his office to go down to the underground lab and deliver breakfast to both boys.They had quite a bit to talk about today. Norman gathered the breakfasts from the kitchen with no questions and headed down.

He turned the lights back on and announced cheerily " Morning, I hope you two slept well. Harry, you've officially been reported as missing, and Peter, Stark has no inclination that you're here. In fact, he actually thinks you both may have been taken for ransom, so you better give up on him finding you."

Peter grimaced at Norman's words while Harry just glared angrily at his father. Norman opened a slot in the glass and slid the plates of food through to the lavish Mahogany table directly in front of it. Neither boy moved to accept the food.

"Relax, it's not poisoned. Why would I bother kidnapping you to protect you only to kill you with poison."

Peter slowly began eating the waffles that were on the plate. Norman slipped a couple bottles of water through the slot as well.

"Oh, Peter, I just wanted to tell you it'll be a few days until I can properly test the antidote to the bite. All I need to do is synthesize it, so be prepared to lose those extra abilities for good."

Peter grimaced while Harry looked at his dad with confusion but still didn't say anything. Norman took their plates after they were done eating and told them he'd be back shortly to continue working on the antidote.

Norman left and Harry asked Peter "Was that why you were so sick that night? You actually got bit by one of those radioactive spiders?"

"Yeah, and it gave me spider powers where I have super strength, heightened senses, and can stick to things with my hands and feet. I'd show you now, but these collars shut off the mutation, apparently."

Harry nodded as if that made sense. He now understood why Peter was acting different at school now, especially since he knows he has heightened senses.

"So how're we gonna get out of here?" Harry asked as Peter thought. Peter had thought it out after Harry had fallen asleep last night.

"We need to create a communications device that is powerful enough to reach Mr. Stark's systems. I know how to do this, but we'll have to wait until night time when Norman turns out the light so he doesn't see us. It won't take me long to make it, but I'll fully explain tonight since Norman will be back soon."

Harry nodded and they both decided on just playing thinking games until night would come. It may get boring, but what else have they got to do? They watched as Norman came back and sat at one of the stations. Peter watched Norman nervously as he handled his blood. Peter just hoped that he could get the communicator done tonight so he'll be out of the clutches of this mad man who wants to get rid of his powers and keep him locked up forever.

Tony sat on the worn down couch in his lab and thought about what his next move would be. He has everyone keeping an eye out for both kids, but there's still no sign of either one since they disappeared only hours apart. The only reason Tony has any stability left is because Rhodey has come to help him and make him eat and everything. He's been even more worried since they found Emma Lyman's car completely burned and May's autopsy revealed that she'd been poisoned. Tony just wants his kid back safe. Tony got back up and continued to surf the camera footage he had gotten from the hospital. He had worked on the spider suit for a little while too. He wanted to have it ready for Peter as quickly as possible. He'd also started making him a watch with a tracker that can only be removed if Tony puts in a specific code. The kid probably wouldn't like it, but it would keep him safe. He'll never give up on finding his mentee.
