Chapter 16-sneaking about
Ari, Fred and George were given the all clear to head back to the burrow as the order were all in the tent outside, Ari made her way through the door and went up the crooked stairs to her room,
she felt lonely, she always did at this time of day, when the sun had just sunk bellow the visible parts of the sky. Ari felt like love had betrayed her. But then again, love was not cruel, he was cruel, she reminded herself that love was not a game but people had made a game out of love. She laid there, of course alone, feeling no better than the day she found out the one thing in the world that kept the eternal clock in her body going had left her, it hurt her. It really did, but she had not shed a tear, no marks of misery had escaped from her eyes, and no sign of weakness escaped her lips, yet she was so worn out of hiding her emotion, she couldn't bring herself to cry, she just laid there and drifted into a dreamless slumber.
Morning came quickly and Ari had decided to go the special place she used to take Remus when they wanted to be alone, it was peaceful there, it was quiet, it was hers. She neared the lake that was filled with the brightest of colours and the most vivid of memories, but found herself feeling an unwanted presence. Ari looked upon the lake and saw something that hurt her more than any dagger or any words could ever. There he was, with her. He pulled her into a kiss that tore Ari's heart out of her chest. She watched as it ripped her apart. Of course she didn't blame them, they looked good together.
She removed herself from the place she once stood so she wasn't in earshot of the happy couple, and began to release all of her emotions, she cried, not because of envy or any kind of jealousy, but because she felt like the memories made and everything that she gave him meant nothing. She was like touchy dynamite. She couldn't bare to stay anywhere near them so she ran back to the burrow, careful not to be seen by anyone, and went up to her room, ignoring Fred and George's calls along the way.
She laid on her bed, she had composed herself and started drinking some fire whiskey she had under her bed. She quickly looked up as Fred and George walked in, "drinking without us ey?" Said George. "You want some?" Replied Ari? Whilst looking back and fourth at them. Fred and George gave off their signature smirk and grabbed the bottle from her hand and took a sip each.
Before they knew it they were completely intoxicated. George's words were slurred and Fred made no sense, and Ari was a giggling mess. Fred and George decided to run Ari a bath, so she could calm down from her drinking.
The bath was done and she got in, not bothering to take off any of her clothes. "I'm washing me and meh clothes!" Exclaimed Ari. Fred and George ran down to molly at lightening speeds. "SHES IN THE BATH WITH HER GOD DAMN CLOTHES ON!" They both exclaimed, not caring about the meeting that was being held, Sirius got up and ran to the bathroom to find Ari passed out in the bath. He chuckled to himself before lifting her out and wrapping her in a towel. "Thank you Sirius," she mumbled before passing out again. Today was definitely a day she would forget in the morning.
The morning came quite quickly for Ari, she was really hung over and decided to play on the old piano that was in her room, it was dusty and old and had a key missing, but that didn't matter to her, she began to play a melody that she knew at the back of her mind, yet she couldn't never remember of its origin. It was a lot louder than expected but this didn't matter to Ari, she forgot about the meetings and the order being there so she continued to play to her hearts content.
Ari's day went pretty smoothly, she stayed in her room for most of it, but the twins would check up on her every now and then to make sure she was alright. The day turned into nightfall as Ari tried to get some sleep. However she couldn't get the image of Remus with that woman out of her head. It pained her. It caused her to be restless. 3:00am crept up slowly and Ari still hadn't managed to get any sleep. She found herself thirsty so headed down to the kitchen to get a glass of water, she grabbed the map that Fred and George left for her, (it was like the marauders map but for the burrow) she noticed that Remus was in the room above hers, he was still, as she assumed he was asleep. She got up and headed downstairs, trying to avoid any creaking floorboards and dodgy stairs on her way. She reached the bottom of the stairs when she heard movement from the floor above her, as a hand went around her mouth, "be quiet," the voice seemed to be coming from that of George Weasley. He led her into the broom cupboard and gave her a look that had be quiet written all over it. "What are we doing?" Ari whispered to him. "He's coming downstairs, I didn't want him to see you," he replied. Ari thanked him in a louder tone that before, which earned her a "Be quiet!" From George. This did not however help the situation as the door flung open, to reveal Remus standing in front of George, thankfully Ari was too short to be seen in the dim lighting, as she was standing behind him. "Sneaking around in the dark hm?" Questioned Remus to George. "I was getting a drink and heard sometimes so I ran in here, you can never be too careful," he replied. Trying to sound confident. He put his hand behind his back and pointed to a manny old cloak, Ari got the idea and carefully put it on without making too many movements. An invisibility cloak. George left the cupboard as Remus stayed lingering downstairs for a while. He returned to the cupboard as he had his suspicions, but saw nothing and went back upstairs. He was standing right there, Ari felt numb, but went back up to get some sleep, which however did not happen.
