Chapter 16🌴

Kim Taehyung was blinking rapidly by looking at the sight before him. He couldn't believe what he was witnessing. He turned his side to see Kim Seokjin having a proud grin on his face by seeing Taehyung's reaction.

"What do you think, farmer? Isn't great?" Jin asked while looking at his beautiful art on the crops.

It's the next day after the rain storm, and Taehyung was happy that finally some sunlight was shining. But before he could brush his teeth, he was being dragged to the farm field by none other than Kim Seokjin.

Kim Taehyung was dumbstruck by looking at his few of his crops being covered by car sheets. He looked at Jin in disbelief but the other was feeling proud by his actions.

"I got this idea last night, farmer. And I ran to my car to pick up my covers. Though it couldn't cover the entire field, atleast it saved some. See, this one's not ruined." Jin pointed his finger to one rice paddy that was covered with the car sheets.

Now Taehyung could understand why Kim Seokjin took bath in the mid night. Jin couldn't sleep peacefully by thinking about the crops getting destroyed in the storm. Though Taehyung was his enemy, he used to play the game fairly.

He didn't want Taehyung to lose just because of some natural disasters. That's the reason why Jin ran to his car in the middle of the night just to grab his car sheets from his car trunk. He tried to cover as much as crops from getting ruined in the rain.

After feeling satisfied with his work, Jin came back to the farm house and took a shower before walking Taehyung up to speak about thunders.

"I appreciate your effort, Mr. Kim. But I must also confess that you are the dumbest man I have ever come across"

"What the?" Kim Seokjin was jaw dropped by seeing Taehyung insulting his brain power.

"A small "thank you" wouldn't hurt, farmer." Jin huffed and folded his hands right against his chest while looking at Taehyung removing the covers that Jin used on the crops.

Taehyung couldn't see the pout that Jin was giving by hearing his words. But Jin also failed to notice the smile on Taehyung's face. Taehyung so badly tried to control his laughter by seeing how childish Kim Seokjin was. He couldn't believe that Jin would do such thing but he would never say that it warmed his heart.

Taehyung turned back to look at Jin who was already looking at the rice paddy field ruined in the rain. His car sheets helped nothing. Jin awkwardly smiled at the farmer who couldn't control his laughter.

Soon Jin and Taehyung found themselves laughing by Jin's stupid action. Though Taehyung was laughing, deep inside he was hurt. The field that was supposed to feed many stomachs were no more.

This was one of the reasons why many farmers shifted to other jobs instead of agriculture. Any natural disaster would ruin their hard work and nothing could be stopped.

With a heavy sigh Taehyung picked up the damped car sheets and looked at the messy field. Kim Seokjin on the other side felt bad that he couldn't help the poor farmer. He didn't know what to say.

"Y-You can sow the crops once again, farmer." Jin whispered by seeing Taehyung who was having his back at Jin. He saw the farmer shaking his head in disagreement.

"You don't understand, Mr. Kim. This rice was supposed to feed the homeless people in Daegu. And n-now it's gone." For the first time Jin saw Taehyung breaking down infront of him. He saw how badly the farmer was shaking and Jin felt really bad.

Taehyung closed his face with his hands and knelt down on the wet field where the crops looked dead. Jin felt awkward to touch Taehyung for comfort or to say something. He knew that all his hard work had gone waste.

But he never knew that Taehyung was going to give this rice to poor people. He thought the farmer would look for profit from it. But of course it was Taehyung. And the farmer never failed to amaze him with his selfless heart.

He couldn't take the scene of Taehyung crying by hugging the wet paddy in his hands. This was his grand mother's wish to feed the people who were in need. And he was following it through all his life. He never expected a rainstorm but no one could predict anything when it came to nature.

Kim Taehyung made up his mind last night to accept the failure in his farming. But by seeing his lovely crops lying there motionless broke his heart. He couldn't take it anymore. He wasn't bothered about him looking like a defeated person.

He loved doing agriculture and spent most of his time here by thinking about his memories with his grand mother. He wanted his farming to grow more and feed more people. He also had an idea of sending the harvest to near by areas where people were in need. But now nothing could be done.

Kim Seokjin walked some distance to find signal for his phone. He knew that he didn't had to do this. But his heart couldn't take the sight of the farmer crying over his ruined farm. He knew how painful it was to lose something that they had been taking care of.

Jin knew that he would have died with pain if the baby chick had not born alive. He still remembered that day where he was almost going under panic attack by seeing the motionless bird. He got his life back only when he heard the baby chick clucking sound.

Jin picked up his phone from his back pocket and dialed the only person whom he could trust on this. He placed the phone on his ears and he could hear the phone ringing on the other line. He looked far away to see Taehyung silently removing the destroyed paddy from the soil.

Jin breathed out a sigh when he heard the other line being picked up.

"Hello Minnie, I want you to do something."
