Chapter 5

During math, I was thinking about Cole and I. Was Cole being serious about us being a couple? I mean he always held my hand, he offered for me to move in with him, and most of all. He saved me from my abusive stepfather.

"Sabrina, can you answer this math problem?" Ms. Albert asked.

The problem was:

2x + 10 + 4x = 26

So, I got out a piece of paper and wrote the problem down, and then solved it.

"The answer is 18," I replied.

"Correct."

After the teacher was done speaking, the bell rang. Like always, I am the last one out of the classroom. I walked out of the classroom and Cole was waiting for me. We walked to my locker so I can get my Social Studies stuff out of my locker and put my math stuff into my locker. After that, I close my locker, and then we both walked to class together.

In social studies, we did bingo which I did not play because they played a different version that I did not understand. Cole and I had social studies together which was amazing so I wasn't bored all class period so we got to know each other during class and let me tell you I'm growing more in love with him every time I learn something new about him.

After social studies, it was time for lunch. Cole and I got down to the lunchroom and went to my regular table. I usually sit alone but since I have Cole. I don't feel alone at lunch anymore. Cole and I sat down and waited to get our lunch. While we were waiting, Ashley came over.

'You've got to be kidding me.' I thought.

"Hey, Sabrina," Ashley said with a fake smiled

"Hi Cole." She said flirtatious.

"What do you want Ashley because I am tired of you trying to ruin my day." I replied standing up for myself.

"What do you want Ashley. We don't want you here." Cole said frustrated.

"I was just coming over here to tell Sabrina that I am so sorry that she has to deal with her abusive step-father. I mean she is always getting beaten up by him." Ashley said while smirking.

My eyes went big.

'How did she know about that?' I thought.

Cole was glaring at Ashley pissed.

"How did you know about that?" He asked.

"I overheard you two at gym. I was just walking around and then I overheard both of you." Ashley responded.

"Don't tell anyone. Please." I said scared standing up.

Ashley looked at me.

"I already told my bffs and they are in the schools' newspaper's club or community or whatever they want to call it. They already published it." Ashley said smiling.

"Oh my god," I said sitting down beginning to cry into my hands.

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT FOR!!!!" Cole yelled.

"Because it is a big story," Ashley said.

"It is not your story to tell!!!!" Cole said yelling even more.

I lifted my head and saw that the whole cafeteria was looking at us. I looked at Cole for a few seconds and he looked back at me and as he was staring into my brown eyes, he calmed down because he knew that I was hurting. I could tell. I ran out of the cafeteria I did not want any more attention towards me. I couldn't believe that Ashley would do that.

I went to my locker and opened it. After I opened my locker, I got my bookbag out and then I put stuff in there like my homework folder, my assignments folder, and my books for reading because I have to do a book report for English. After I did that, I closed my locker and started to walk away. As I was walking, someone pulled my arm from behind and pulled me into them. I knew that it was Cole. I pulled away from him and looked up into his blue eyes.

"I'm sorry that she did that to you," Cole said.

"It's fine. Even, I didn't think that she would go that far because she hates me so much." I replied.

Cole looked at my book bag and then back at me.

"Where are you going?" He asked seriously.

"Somewhere far away from here so I can't be hurt any more than I already am," I answered.

I turned to walk away but Cole turned me back to him.

"You're not going anywhere by yourself," Cole said seriously.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You have me, Sabrina. I can protect you, take care of you, and most of all. I can love you." Cole said more seriously than all of the other times he has been serious.

I was really shocked. I was smiling and tearing up at this point.

"Let me take you somewhere for your early summer vacation," Cole said smiling back at me and removed the tears that were rolling down my face.

"I would love that," I replied nodding.

"Where have you always wanted to go?" Cole asked.

"I have always wanted to go to California," I answered.

"Okay. When do you want to go?" He asked.

"Whenever." I replied.

"Okay. I will buy the tickets."

I nodded. Cole took out his phone and was buying the tickets for us to go to California.

"Come on. We are going to my place for the rest of the week because I know that you don't want to deal with any more drama." Cole said.

"Okay," I replied.

I am so glad that I have Cole in my life right now because if I didn't, I would have never have found a way to get away from my abusive stepfather and get away from Ashley.
