Groaning quietly as he blinked his eyes open, Max found himself inside his house. A small fire burned quietly in the fireplace. Looking around, he saw that he was laying on a cot, covered in fur blankets, in his living room. No one else was home. Well, everyone but Snowball. The Rabbu was also in his living room, watching him sleep.

Wait a second...

"Snowball? What... what are you doing in my house?" Max questioned, sitting up in his cot. Delighted to see the young Viking awake, Snowball wagged his tail and jumped up onto the bed. Wincing in pain, Max pushed the dragon off. He was about to get up when he felt something strange, like something wasn't right. Pulling back the blankets, he found out why.

His left foot was missing and replaced with a prosthetic.

"Holy crap..." Max whispered, astonished. Creeping over, Snowball quietly sniffed it before looking up at the human. Sighing heavily, the teenager murmured, "Okay, let's try this... one small step at a time." Taking a step with his bad foot first, he then tried his good one. The bad one couldn't hold him up though and gave out. He would've fallen flat on his face if Snowball hadn't caught him. The dragon helped Max over to the door. Quietly, the teenager opened it.

A Sphynx roared loudly. Riding on it, Buddy shouted, "Come on Mel! Race ya!" He and his dragon Ozone took to the air with Mel riding on the Guina Norman. The Parakeen Sweetpea followed him. Looking all around him, Max was utterly speechless. There were dragons everywhere! But no one was trying to kill them. What the heck was going on?!

"I knew it," Max declared, "I'm dead!"
