"RUN!!!" Mel shouted. Viking and dragon alike quickly scrambled to find hiding spots as the Halcon rushed past. Slamming its entire body against the gate of the training arena, it let out an earsplitting shriek. Attacking the chain linked ceiling next, it growled and hissed and snarled while the flames covering its body grew. Its fanned tail thrashed about angrily.
"You still think this is the dragon for me?!" Gidget cried out to Max. The young Viking smiled nervously as he shrugged his shoulders. Holding a shield, he replied back, "I'm gonna try calming it down. There's something wrong with it."
"Just wanna point out, it's a male!" Mel declared, "You can tell by the crest feathers!"
"Thank you for that piece of information Mel," Max muttered sarcastically. He quietly stood up and boldly approached the angered dragon. Dropping his shield, he took a deep breath and raised his arms as he called out in a calm voice, "Hey boy, it's okay, you're safe-" He finished with a scream as a fire blast came his way.
"MAX!!" Gidget shouted, fear evident in her voice. Luckily avoiding the fire, Max rolled across the ground. Coming to a stop, he was about to get up when the Halcon lunged forward with snapping jaws. Falling back down again, he was quickly pinned to the floor by the dragon's taloned feet. Letting out a victorious screech, the Halcon spread his wings out. It was at that moment that Gidget noticed a broken arrow embedded in the dragon's left hip. She ran towards it.
Trapped, Max felt himself hyperventilating. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Gidget running towards him and the Halcon. He didn't dwell on that for long though as the dragon lowered his head towards him. Hissing menacingly, he opened his jaws to reveal a reddish glow in the back of his throat. Max knew what was going to happen. He was going to be burned alive.
That never happened though as the dragon let out a pained screech when Gidget ripped out the arrow.
