Shrieking in pain, the Halcon released his hold on Max as he spun around in circles to find what caused the pain. Drawing shaky breaths, Max looked up to find Gidget standing nearby, looking down at the bloody arrow she held in her hands. "I think I solved the problem..." she murmured as she helped him up to his feet. At that moment, they heard a low growl. They turned their heads.
The Halcon was standing right there.
Still growling, the Halcon limped towards Gidget. Max attempted to pull her away but was quickly snapped at by the dragon. The two teenagers were separated as the beast continued to growl at Gidget. She quickly saw that his gaze kept flickering to the broken arrow in her hands. Thinking quickly, she threw the arrow as far as she could out of the arena.
The growls stopped.
"Hold your hand out..." Max mouthed silently to Gidget. Nodding her head quietly in understanding, she looked back at the Halcon. He was still standing there, waiting for her to make the first move. Shaking a little, she held up her right hand while doing her best to remain calm. She lowered her head, though she lifted her gaze, watching the dragon.
He pounced.
"GIDGET! Hang on, I'm-" Max cried, worried and fearfully. However, he soon saw there was no need to panic. The Halcon, who was actually wagging his fanned tail, was purring and licking Gidget's face. She, in the meantime, was laughing as she tried to get the large dragon off of herself. Stroking the dragon's muzzle, she giggled, "You big softie!"
"Guys..." Buddy piped up. Everyone followed his gaze to find out that Ripper had entered the ring. The mute shaman held his hand out, presenting the group with some rope he had for all of them to use.
Smiling, Max gratefully took the rope.
