Following the dragons as they flew across the ocean, Max and Gidget did their best not to be seen by any of them. Snowball helped them out a little as he stayed behind a majority of them. Blending in with the flock, the trio soon found themselves in a giant cave on a rocky island hidden by fog.
While Snowball landed immediately, the other dragons continued to fly over a smoky pit. It was then that Max noticed that they were dropping food down in there. "Well, that's nice to know they're wasting our food," Gidget whispered. Max motioned for her to stay quiet just as a Guina flew over to the pit and deposited a measly little fish. It started to fly away then.
A giant snake-like head shot up from the pit and snatched the Guina, eating it whole.
"Oh my gods..." Max muttered. Gidget was completely speechless. In the meantime, the mysterious dragon stuck its head up again. It was a Viper, a very rare and powerful creature. This one had a broken tooth and a blind eye but still looked pretty formidable. And hungry. It was looking right at them.
A second later, it lunged forward.
Shrieking, Snowball and the other dragons took to the air. A Parakeen and a Tabikat were snatched by the Viper and eaten. Luckily for the rest of them, they managed to escape with their lives intact. Max and Gidget were traumatized by what they had just discovered.
