Chapter 14

Cheryls POV

I get back to the lobby, spotting Kimberley at the back of the line again.

I casually sneak up behind her, wrapping my arms around her from behind, placing my hands on either side of her baby bump as I kiss her neck.

She tenses in my arms and turns around.

‘Hi baby’ I smile.

‘Hey’

‘Care to explain why we haven’t moved any closer to the desk since I left?’ I question with a knowing look.

She looks towards the desk then down to her feet before looking back up at me.

‘I erm...’ she clears her throat, ‘I needed the toilet so... it was either I leave the queue or wet myself.’

‘Well, maybe if you wet yourself, everyone would have moved away. It would be like a fast track to check out’ I joke.

‘Heh... yeah’

‘Let’s just hope we can still make it home in time aye?’ I wink, but she looks at me in confusion.

‘In time for what?’

‘You know... our little... bedroom appointment’ she smirk.

She doesn’t really respond, but her eyes widen.

‘Oh’ she eventually mutters, ‘Yeah, I forgot about that’

She shrugs her shoulders trying to act as if it’s normal.

But it’s not normal. I have never known her to be forgetful, especially not when it comes to our plans made as a couple.

I decide to just drop it for now and put it down to her baby brain. Surely that’s the only reason she could have forgotten. Right?

*****

We’ve just got home and there is definitely something on Kimberley’s mind.

She has been so distant since I got back to the lobby and through the entire car journey. She didn’t even sing when mirrors came on the radio, normally she can’t stop herself from singing it to me and I actually feel kind of hurt that she didn’t.

Hopefully she will change her tune now though, because we have just about made it home before twelve and we still have a few minutes to make it up the stairs, even with the extra package that’s currently slowing her down.

‘You coming?’ I ask when she shows no sign of going upstairs and just goes into the living room to sit on the couch.

‘What?’ she looks up at me confused, ‘coming where?’

‘To bed’ I whisper in a low voice as I move next to her on the couch and start kissing her neck.

She quickly pushes me away after two kisses, resulting in my hurt feelings and concern to resurface.

‘I’ve erm... got a head ache.’ She mutters, sliding away from me a little.

‘Oh...’ I sigh deflated.

Are we that sort of couple now?

‘Well’ I perk myself up a little, trying to hide how much this has upset me, ‘do you want some painkillers?’
