Jade drove into Mr. Barter's driveway. She heard screaming. She grabbed her gun and ran inside.
"Mr. Barter! Where are you!?" She called him.
The screaming ceased. Jade looked around. Nothing. The house was completely empty. Jade dialed a police officer named Rick Miller.
"Hey, Jade. Off duty, but what do ya need?" Rick answered.
"Come down to Mr. Barters house pronto!" Jade yelled.
"Okay. See ya in five." Rick hung up.
Like Rick said, he arrived at Mr. Barters five minutes later. He walked through the open front door.
"Jade?" He said.
"Over here." Jade replied.
"What's the matter babe?" Rick frowned.
"Rick, don't call me babe. Your like ten years older than me. But that doesn't matter! I received a call from Mr. Barter. He asked me to come help him. He said I'd spoken to him earlier. Then he screamed and hung up." Jade shook her head in confusion.
"Okay, where is he?" Rick scratched his head.
"That's what I don't know. I heard him screaming when I came in here. I searched this place top to bottom. He is nowhere." Jade tapped her foot.
"Then.... Where could he be? Are you 100% sure that he screamed when you came in?" Rick asked.
"Yes. I know I heard him. But.... What do I do? Do we report this? Or just study it first?" Jade frowned.
"Definitely do not report this, babe. Who knows what you heard? It could've been an animal. And how do you know it was Mr. Barter who called? You said that the man told you that it was someone you had spoken to earlier, right? It could a been somebody you told excuse me!" Rick laughed.
"I know that it was Mr. Barter! Who else could it of been?" Jade stomped her foot.
"Hey, I ain't calling you crazy. But when a woman calls you at midnight sayin there's a guy who was screaming a second ago that just disappeared. Would ya believe her? Naw... Ya wouldn't. But let's say you're right. Where did he go, in 3 second huh?" Rick shook his head.
"I guess you're right. I should just go home. Sorry." I smirked.
"No prob. See ya tomorrow babe." Rick got in his truck.
"Jade is my name. Not babe." Jade laughed.
