Ken and Jade drove to Jades house. Jade struggled to get out of the wheel chair. Ken helped her limp into bed.
"Ken. I didn't leave the hospital so I could lay in bed some more..." Jade whined."You can walk around tomorrow." Ken hugged her.
"Okay. You staying?" Jade asked him.
"Doc says someone needs to be with you, right? So I'll stay." Ken smiled.
"Well, with both of us not working... Whose bringing the money home?" Jade was overcome by drowsiness.
"Oh, baby doll. Don't worry about it. I got this under control." Ken reassured her.
"Hmm??? Okay....." Jade fell asleep.
When Jade woke up, she realized that she'd slept for two days. Ken was in the kitchen making breakfast. Jade slowly got out of bed. She painfully waddled over to Ken. Ken dropped his spatula into his pan.
"Whoa! Sit down! Don't over do it!" Ken helped her sit on the couch."Ken? I'll be fine, babe." Jade smiled.
"Well... It's kind of my fault that you got hit. You were coming to talk to me. And... I coulda saved you too. It shoulda been me, Jade." Ken frowned.
"Oh, Ken. Please don't say that. It wasn't anyone's fault but mine. I should've been paying attention." Jade patted his back.
"It wasn't your fault... Okay?" Ken said.
"Your pancakes are burnin'." Jade laughed.
Ken jumped up and ran over to the stove. Ken threw out the burnt pancakes and washed the dirty dishes. He came in and gave Jade his first batch of pancakes.
"Thanks Ken. They smell good..." Jade smiled."No problem, Jade. Oh and---," Ken was interrupted by the ring of Jades cell phone.
"Sorry. Duty calls." Jade picked up her cell phone.
Jade limped into the other room.
"Hello? Jade here." She answered."It's Bill. We need ya in the office today. Now." Bill said.
"I'm still hurtin'." Jade told him.
"Sorry, but like I said. Now." Bill hung up.
Jade got ready to leave. Ken came in.
"Who was that?" Ken asked."Bill. The new guy. He needs me in the office right now. Told em' I was hurting but he hung up. So it's that bad. Gotta go. Can you come with me?" Jade replied.
"I have to. Let's go." Ken smiled.
