Jade and Ken arrived at the police station. Jade motioned for Ken to stay in the car. Jade limped into the police station. Rick and Bill were in her office waiting for her.
"In here now." Bill said.

"I'm here. What's going on?" Jade sighed.

"So do you know who hit you?" Rick asked her.

"With the truck? Uh... No?" Jade frowned.

"Detectives say that the man who hit you was Conner Barter. Recognize the name?" Bill raised a brow.

"I thought he was in jail..." Jade sat down.

"He was just released." Rick coughed.

"Whoa... He has to be like 90 something, right??" Jade asked.

"Yeah. He's 97 years old." Bill replied.

Jade shook her head. Conner wrecked and died a day after he was released from jail. Conner was sentenced 50 years in prison 50 years ago. He was 47 when he was sent to prison. The Barter family was soon to be gone.
"Rick. Did Sylvia have any cousins, aunts, uncles, or anyone else related to her besides those I already know of?" Jade picked up her computer.

"She had two cousins I think. I don't know their names though." Rick shrugged his shoulders.

Jade went on Ancestry.com and typed in Sylvia Barter. It showed Conner, Martha, Jakob, Nicolas, and more. It showed Sylvia's aunt/ Martha's sister. She married a man named Kevin Strain. They had twin girls. One named Mara Lee and the other named Lilly Anne. They were both now 33years old. There was more but they were all dead.
"They need to be protected. They're the only Barters left. I'll give them a call." Jade said.

"Go ahead." Rick frowned.

Jade opened the phone book and only found Lilly Anne's phone number. She quickly dialed her number.
"Hello? Who is this?" A man answered.

"Jade La Bar. A police officer. I need to speak with Lilly Anne." Jade replied sternly.

"Why?" The man asked.

"That's personal. Where is she?" Jade barked.

"Why should I tell you?" The man snapped.

"Sir, is there something your guilty about?" Jade said.

"No ma'am. I just don't think your really a police officer." He sighed.

"I need to speak with her immediately!" Jade flipped out.

"Anyway, she's not home. She's at her sisters house down in New Jersey." He coughed.

"Okay, thanks for your time sir." Jade hung up.

Rick looked at Jade meaning "Well?". Jade shook her head. She stood up and limped painfully into Bill's office.
"I'm going to that Lilly Anne's house. I don't trust that man that answered her phone." Jade told Bill.

"I'm coming with you." Bill said.

"Nah. I work better with Rick, Kay? No offense." Jade patted him on the back.

"That's very insulting." Bill sighed.

"Like I said, no offense." Jade shrugged her shoulders.

Jade waved Rick over to her. He knew what she meant and followed her out the door. She got in her police car. She forgot that Ken was waiting for her.
"Sit in the back please. Rick is coming with us. We need to go see some lady related to the Barters." She said.

"I can honestly say, I've never sat in the back of a police car before." Ken laughed as he got in the back seat.

"Once you close the door, there's no getting back out unless I open it from the outside." Jade warned him.

Rick sat in the passenger seat. Jade started the car and backed out. She arrived at Lilly Anne's house.
"Stay seated Ken. Rick come with me." Jade exited the car along with Rick.
