Ken went to the hospital. Jade had a hole in her right side. She lost a ton of blood. But somehow, she lived. Rick came in first.
"Hey, babe. You feel better right?" He smirked.

"Yeah.... I thought you had the week off..." She smiled weakly.

"Oh, I did. The more time I had to myself, the more I thought about Sylvia. So I decided to work. It kept my mind off things... Then you got hit by that car." Rick replied glumly.

"I see... The doc says It'll take months of healing. But I'll try to work next week. He says not to but too bad. I can't just sit in bed for 6 and a half months, let alone a 2 weeks. That would kill me!" Jade frowned.

"That would kill you?? If the doc says that it'll take 6 and a half months of recovery, wouldn't walking before then kill you???" Rick laughed.

"Oh Rick. It wouldn't kill me. Plus, I'm way too curious about the whole Mr. Barter case." Jade said.

"Forget about him. He's probably messing with us. He was always a freakish person." Rick chuckled.

"I don't care! Sylvia said he was there! I heard him.... But he said he wasn't himself anymore...." Jade argued.

"So your engaged, huh??" Rick changed the subject.

"Oh, yeah. I forgot. I told him I'd marry when I thought I was gonna die. I still wanna marry him though." Jade looked at her beautiful ring.

"He wants to see you." Rick said.

"Let him in." Jade told him.

"Kay. Well, I gotta go. I'll visit ya tomorrow." Rick left.

Ken knocked on the door. Jade told him to come in.
"Hey, Jade. Rick told me that you want to get up and walk around next week. Rick told the doctor. The doctor said that if you'd like to heal that early, you might as well believe in fairies and unicorns." Ken sighed.

"Get him in here, now!" Jade frowned.
Seconds later, the doctor entered the room.

"You uh wanted to see me Miss La Bar?" The doctor was looking at a notepad.

"When's the earliest I can start walking?" Jade folded her arms awkwardly due to tears in her left side.

"As I said before, six and a ha--," Jade interrupted the doctor.

"That's not what I meant. I meant earlier than that." Jade raised a brow.

"That's as fast as humanly possible, ma'am." The doctor frowned.

"Exactly. I'm not just a human, I am Jade Ray La Bar." Jade uncrossed her arms.

"Only time will tell." The doctor left the room.

Jade spent three weeks in the hospital. She switched rooms 3 times already. Ken and Rick entered the room.
"I feel a lot better. Tell the nurse I'm ready to leave." Jade said.

"I can't just tell the nurse--," Ken began.

"Now!" Jade replied.

"Haven't you known her long enough?" Rick chuckled.

Two nurses and the doctor came in.
"You cannot leave just yet, ma'am." A blonde nurse told her.

"Yes, I can. I know my body. My body says it's time to get going." Jade tried to sit up.

"Jade, no you can't." The doctor became impatient with her.

"Are you saying you know my body more than I do??? Are you calling me a liar??????" Jade squinted.

"No...I'm not... I guess you can leave. I can't force you to stay here. Just please have someone with you at all times. You need to come to physical therapy twice a week." The doctor sighed.

"Will do sir." Jade smiled.

"I'll take care of her doc." Ken said.

The doctor nodded and walked away. Ken helped Jade into her wheel chair.
"Will you take care of me?" Jade asked.

"Of course I will. I love you.." Ken replied.

"I love you too." Jade said.
