"MS. ALICE?" A little blonde girl shook me awake. I opened my eyes. I was confused about where I was for a second, but then I remembered I had fallen asleep on the couch in the common room. I rubbed my eyes and sat up to face the young girl.

"Are you alright?" I asked. She hesitated, looking as though she was debating on whether or not to lie.

"I'm a little scared," She timidly said. I nodded and moved down the couch, giving her space.

"Would you like to sit, dear? We can talk about it if you want." I stood up and grabbed another blanket that laid on a chair for her. She sat down. I placed the blanket next to her. "What's your name?"

"Amelia. Amelia Bones," She said.

"Are you related to Edgar?" They didn't look too much alike; however, it was dark in the room. Maybe in some better lighting, they would look similar.

"Yes, he's my older brother," Amelia said.

"So, Amelia, what can I do to make you feel less scared?" I knew this year was going to be hard on the first year, with all the pureblood Slytherins harassing them, and if I could make this school year a little bit easier for them, I would be pleased.

"Well. I'm not really scared. Um... I miss my Mum, and I had a bad dream... Could you, uh... could I sleep with you, down here?" Amelia fidgeted with the blanket next to her. I smiled.

"Of course. Come here." I opened my arms, signalling for her to come to snuggle. Her face lit up. She pulled the blanket over her and leaned into me. I wrapped my arms around her. It wasn't long until she fell asleep. However, it took me a bit longer to go back asleep but eventually, I did.

"Amelia! What are you doing?!" Edgar's booming voice woke me up.

"She-she let me. She told us we could come down." Amelia's face began to flush out of embarrassment.

"Edgar, it's fine. She's right. I told them they could come down if they wanted to. Don't worry. She didn't do anything wrong," I explained. Edgar looked at us.

Amelia dashed upstairs. I watched as she ran. When she was entirely out of sight, I turned to Edgar. He bit the side of his cheek before speaking, "Alright, but Amelia upstairs now."

"Edgar, she's fine. It's normal for first-years to have a rough first night. After all, they're only eleven," I tried to explain.

"I know; it's just we've been trying to get her to be independent for a while now. I just wished she would suck it up like the rest of us," Edgar sighed.

"It's her first night. Give her some time, and she will. Change is just harder for some people. And I promise it didn't bother me. I quite enjoyed it. I don't have a younger sister, so it was like I had one for a bit," I smiled, "Well, I need to get ready for breakfast. I'll see you around."
