Frank
I WAS SURPRISED WHEN ALICE WENT BACK TO HOGWARTS AND RECEIVED ONLY A WEEKS WORTH OF DETENTION. Apparently, Alice had never gotten detention before this, and she was hoping to graduate without ever getting one. Therefore, Alice was not happy about her punishment; she said it was reasonable, but that didn't mean she was excited about it.
The Yule Ball came quickly. Dumbledore wanted as many Aurors as possible stationed at the school when Durmstrang and Beauxbatons came. So, Kingsley and I were at Hogwarts more than usual, but the pay was fantastic, and Alice was there. So, I wasn't complaining.
However, I was sad I could not take Alice to the ball since I worked that night. But that didn't stop the two of us from being with each other the whole night. Pandora joined us as they banned non-students from the event. Meaning Philius couldn't come.
We stood in the corner of the Great Hall that overlooked the ball. Alice wore a yellow dress. The sleeves were puffy from her shoulder to her elbow, and then it tightened against her forearm. The dress cinched her waist. Her hair was fluffy and bounced on her shoulders.
She talked to Pandora as I stared at her. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I stared in awe. I couldn't get over the fact that she chose me, and she was mine. That thought exploded a type of warmth in my chest, and I never wanted it to leave.
"You are the worse Auror ever," Kingsley laughed. I snapped my head at him, embarrassed that I had been caught staring at my girlfriend.
"Get a girl, and you'll feel the same way." I looked at the crowd pretending I was paying attention the whole time.
"Just focus." Kingsley rolled his eyes.
"Please tell me the two of you aren't standing in the corner at a ball." I turned and saw Lily talking to Alice and Pandora. Lily grabbed Alice's hands and tried to pull her into the crowd. Alice stayed put. "Oh, come on. Don't be a wuss because you're boyfriend is one."
"Hey," I said, taken back that Lily called me a wuss.
"Come on," Lily begged Alice. Alice looked at me as if she was asking permission.
"Don't ask permission. Go, go have fun," I said.
Alice smiled and grabbed Pandora's hand. The three ran and met up with the rest of Lily's group, standing in the dancing crowd.
I smiled as I watched Alice laugh at something Marlene said. That grin was always contagious and addicting to me. The six girls danced with each other. For the first time in a while, Alice looked genuinely happy with someone other than me.

Alice
Sweat dripped down my forehead. The girls and I screamed lyrics, bounced up and down, and spun each other around within the duration of the song. It was entertaining and free.
