Alice
"ALICE," Pandora whispered. I turned away from the carriage window to look at her. "You're legs are bouncing." She looked at my legs. It was then when I realized how loud and rapid my legs were moving. I immediately stopped.
"Sorry."
"It's alright. No need to be nervous. It's only Frank," Pandora chuckled.
"I'm not nervous. Quite the opposite actually. I'm just excited, that's all," I lied to her.
"I was thinking actually, Philius is coming and I thought it would be nice to have lunch with you two. Do you want to join us?"
My heart sank.
I didn't want to say no, but I wanted to be with Frank.
I think Pandora saw my face drop, because she said, "Next time, maybe?"
"Next time sounds great." I gave her a weak smile. "Philius isn't mad you that didn't write him all summer?"
Pandora shook her head. "No, he wasn't. It's silly now that I look back on it, to think he was angry."
"What does he do, again? Writes for quibly or something?"
"The Quibbler. Just on magical creatures."
"He must love that. Always discovering new animals," I chuckled. I had yet to see his discoveries in person. It was almost as if they were real mythical creatures.
"Well, he wants to be the editor, actually. But he'll get there eventually. You've got to start somewhere, right?" I nodded at Pandora's words.
The carriage slowly came to a stop.
"I'll see you at dinner then?" Pandora asked as she stepped out of the carriage.
"See you at dinner," I smiled at her, stepping off.
"Have fun with Frank." She hugged me.
"Thank you. You too, have fun with Philius." We pulled apart.
We went our separate ways.
As I walked to the Shrieking Shack, I couldn't help but be nervous. It was just Frank, I knew that, but I still felt a weird sense of uncomfortableness at the thought. So, I rubbed my hands together, allowing the weird energy to leave me. However, the energy kept with me the whole walk.
Then I saw him. All the unknown energy built inside me dissipated.
He looked good. He looked really good. His shaggy hair was cleaned up a bit. His eyes had light behind them. All was good.
I ran to him, smacking my body against his. Frank stumbled a bit but quickly regained his balance. I tucked my head into the crook of his neck. He felt so warm. So, comforting. So, perfect. Merlin, I missed him.
