PROFESSOR FLITWICK WENT ON AND ON ABOUT CHARM THEORY. I dozed off, doodling, as his voice became increasingly more monotone. The pictures were horrid, but anything was better than charm theory.

"Ah, Professor McGonagall. Lovely to see you," Professor Flitwick said, stopping the lesson. I turned towards the door and found Professor McGonagall halfway in the classroom.

"May I borrow Ms. Ariel Hart, please?" McGonagall's voice held a pinch of sadness. A type that worried me and I wasn't even the one she needed.

The classes' heads turned to face the Ravenclaw. Ariel's face paled as she stuffed her supplies in her bag and stood up. McGonagall flashed a face a pity before she took Ariel out of the classroom.

Once the door was closed, the room filled with murmurs and whispers. Everyone leaned in to each other, spreading guesses as to why Ariel was taken out.

"Do you think Ariel is in trouble?" I asked Pandora. I never talked to Ariel but she seemed like a well-behaved girl.

"I highly doubt that. If she did do something, it wouldn't be bad enough that she would need to be pulled out of class for it," Pandora whispered back. "Ariel isn't like that."

"Then why did she get pulled out?" I asked.

"Alright, alright. I know we don't get visitors often but come on. Class isn't over yet," Flitwick interrupted.

The whispers died down and we fell back into an exhausting silence.

"I am so glad Flitwick finally assigned an essay on charm theory. It's so fascinating and easy to understand," Pandora said. We walked down the corridor on our way to our final class before lunch.

"I wouldn't say easy, but it's definitely more interesting than transfiguration theory. Do you want to do the essay together? I think I'd mess..." I trailed off as we turned a corner and was confronted by chaos.

"What's going on?" Pandora asked a girl next to her.

"A girl's parents were killed this morning," The girl revealed.

My heart sank.

Death.

Why was it always death? Why couldn't we be freaking out about a quidditch game or a famous wizard's wedding? Why death?

"Who?" Pandora asked.

The girl shook her head. "No one knows, but she's from Hogwarts." Ariel. Ariel's parents were killed. Why else would McGonagall escort her out of charms?

I felt the air rip away from me. A small gasp fell from my lips as a response. My hands shook.

"Are you ok?" Pandora tenderly placed a hand on my shoulder.
