Frank"READY?" I asked.
"Can we wait for a few more couples to go?" Alice asked. Alice held onto my arm as we watched multiple couples dance in the centre of the room.
"Yeah, we can do that. Just let me know when," I said. The Beauxbatons ballroom looked as though it belonged in an ice palace. It was stunning, but my favourite part was how the chandelier lights complemented Alice. Her eyes glowed in the white light. They were almost the same colour as the walls. A silvery grey. I fondly looked at her. A small lovesick smile grew onto my face.
"I'm ready." She looked up at me. She slid her hand down my arm and grabbed my hand. I lifted our hands and guided her to the centre of the room. We quickly placed our hands where they needed to be before joining the others in the choreographed dance. My heart pounded. I was scared I was going to step on her toes or forget the next step. But the smile on her face as I spun her around or dipped her or picked her up was enough to subdue the nerves.
Eventually, the classic music stopped and the real fun began. Beauxbatons brought in a very popular French wizarding band called Le Groupe. I had no idea what they were saying but the music was fun to dance to. It seemed everyone else agreed because the ballroom became extremely hot and the slight smell of sweat floated around us.
I took the top layer of my dress robes off and rolled up my sleeves. Hopeful that in doing so, it would cool me down.
Alice and I jumped up and down with the beat of the music. Sometimes I would take one of her hands and spin her. We both had huge smiles on our faces and sweat dripping from our foreheads.
Alice grabbed my arm before leaning on it for balance.
I looked down at her confused, "What are you doing?" I giggled.
"Taking these bloody shoes off. They're giving me nasty blisters." She slid off one shoe and started taking off the other.
"Do you want to wear my shoes so you aren't walking around on the gross floor?" I asked.
"Uh... No thanks, I'm alright. Thank you though," She smiled back at me.
"You'd rather walk on the dirty floor than in my shoes," I teased.
"I don't really want to wear your sweaty shoes," She giggled.
"Well, if you're not going to wear my so-called sweaty shoes then allow me to carry yours for you." I held out my hand.
"Are you sure? I can just set them down by your coat."
"Let me do it. I can get us a drink while I'm at it. Go find Pandora. You haven't seen her all night." I tenderly grabbed her shoes from her hands.
