Everyone is having a good time. Everyone is happy. I am happy. I haven't felt this good, this strong, in months. Lights flash in time to the music, and I stand in the midst of the partiers, watching them dance and laugh, doing everything they feel like the can't, including feeling pure, unadulterated happiness.
Maya is laughing and dancing, falling backward onto a group of dancers only for them to toss her back up. She hasn't smiled in months, not like this. She's happy here. We all are. We're safe and we're happy.
And there's no reason the party should ever have to end. I feel great. They're happy. Why should it? Why should we go home? Why should they ever stop dancing when they can do this forever and ever. The sun never has to rise. Everything is always okay here where I am in control. I've realized by now I'm controlling them. They come to me every single night. They were outside the house just staring last night. Staring, with my handprints glowing on their skin. They like me. They want me. And they want me to keep them safe each and every night.
I don't ask much price. I lay my hand on another virgin flesh, feeling the power seep from it as the boy dances slower and slower. No not much at all. Just enough to keep me alive. I'm all better now, mother. All better. Everything is going to be absolutely fine from now on. So long as we're here dancing.
