*ATHULE*
I’m about to fall asleep when an old woman followed by an old man walk into my room. I sit up and regard them waiting for them to introduce themselves.
“molweni Ntombi. Ndingu Ntombozuko, lo ngumyeni wam uMelikhaya Tshezi” the woman introduces and I nod.
“Ndingu Athule Jones” I say and they nod with smiles and walks over to sit beside my bed.
“Siyakwazi. Thabo uthe masizokubona kuba silapha” (We know who you are, Thabo said we could come and see you since we already this side) the husband says and I nod. Thabo just keeps putting me in awkward situations.
“Kwenzeke ntoni ize ube lapha Ntombi?” (How did you land up in here?) the wife asks and I let out a sigh and explain half the events that happened. Only told them that the doctor said I was stressed and needed to rest.
“Ngoku bazokukhulula nini?” (When are they discharging you?) Ntombi asks.
“Tomorrow” I say and they nod. This entire situation is just awkward for me because it's my first time meeting them and their son is out and about launching his new sex club. I have no idea what to say to any of them.
“It's nice to meet you Athule. We should head home, we just wanted to meet you before your parents come and report the pregnancy. You very beautiful” Mrs Tshezi says and I force a smile.
“Thank you Mah. It's a pleasure to meet you both, under the circumstances” I say and they both laugh.
“Get well and get out of here young lady” The father says and I chuckle. They stand up and then the wife leans in closer.
“Take care of yourself. I look forward to getting to know you” She says and then she kisses my forehead before they say their goodbyes and then both leave.
I wake up the next morning and stretch my arms sitting up straight, I check my phone and I have a number of messages. I’m about to unlock my phone when my mother walks in, I frown because I asked Mimi not to tell my parents about me being here.
“Mah?” I say with furrowed eyebrows.
“Athule baby. How are you?” mom asks me with so much concern plastered on her face.
“I’m fine Mah, when did you get here?” I ask her.
“About an hour ago. They discharging you today right?” mom asks and I nod.
“Yeah, have you seen Thabo? He’s supposed to be here, he said he’d settle the bill” I say.
“He’s not here. Your bill has already been settled. You need to wash and then get ready for us to take you home” mom says and I nod.
“I just need to check my phone, I had a ton of messages and missed calls” I say taking my phone but mom grabs it.
“Khawu hambe uyohlamba Athule uyeke iphone” (Just go and shower already, leave the phone) she scolds and I shoot her a look with a raised eyebrow but she sends a challenging stare making me back down.
I wear the clothes they brought me and then we sign my papers before heading out.
“can I have my phone? I need to call Thabo, he’s supposed to be here. He said he wanted to be involved and now he’s not here” I say annoyed but mom shakes her head no.
“Let the boy be Athule. We here are we not?” mom says and I frown.
“Ok, but can I atleast have my phone?” I say holding out my hand to her but she doesn’t hand my phone to me.
