P4 Composition 2

Mother was cooking in the kitchen when the telephone rang.As no one was at home,she went to answer it."Hi mom,I'm Merry.I just want to inform you that I managed to get good grades for my exams!"Merry is currently studying in Australia.Mother was so engrossed in chatting with her daughter that she forgot all about her cooking.
Meanwhile in the kitchen,the chicken inside the microwave was burning.Mother smelled a strong charred smell emerging from the kitchen.She hung up and dashed into the kitchen in time to see that the chicken in the microwave was burning.She took out the chicken hurriedly from the microwave and dumped it into the dustbin.The papers in the dustbin caught fire.The fire spreaded throughout the whole kitchen within minutes.Thick columms of smoke rose sky-high.Mother tried to put out the fire with buckets of water but it was all in vain.When mother made her way to the main door,she felt her vision blurred and was finding it hard to breathe.Mother took big gulps of air but all she inhaled was smoke and Carbon dioxide.She passed out due to the lack of oxygen.When a passer-by saw thick smoke emerging from mother's kitchen window,he alerted the fire station.
The residents were screaming and running helter-skelter down the stairs to escape the fire.In desperation,some of the residents jumped out of the windows hopping they would survive.The fire fighters arrived in the nick of a time to put out the fire.The paramedics loaded mother onto the stretcher and rushed her to the hospital.
When mother regained consciousness,she realized that she was in the hospital.The doctor advised mother to avoid spicy and oily food and take a stroll in the park in the morning.Mother learnt an important lesson which is never to throw hot items into the dustbin.
