Tom sat on the clinic cahir waiting for his name to be called,the thunder and wind roared loudly outside.He remembered the price he had to pay for being playful...
The sun rose above the tall buildings and the blue shadows of morning gradually faded."Ring...Ring!"The phone shrilled loudly as Tom was still half asleep eating breakfast,Tom staggered across the room with a big yawn."Hello,is that you John?""Shall we meet for a soccer match this afternoon?"Came the reply on the other end of the line.At the mention of soccer,Tom's eyes lit up and replied excitedly,"Alright,let's meet at the nearby field!"He gobbled up his food like a hungry beggar who had not eaten for ages.He changed into his soccer attire and raced to the field.They started off with a friendly match immediately without delay,they ended the match with a draw.
The wind howled loudly and the sky darkened considerably,"Let's play again!"Shouted Tom."No.Let's continue another time,it looks like it's about to rain,"Reasoned Joe."But...but it is not raining yet,we can still play for awhile,"Whinned Tom.As soon as Tom finished his sentence,countless drops of rain hit the ground like bullets and streaks of lightning etched the gray afternoon sky.
They started to rush for shelter at the nearby shophouse.It started to rain cats and dogs and their sodden shoes squelched with every step they took.Thunder boomed loudly as streaks of lightning cut across the dull gray sky,"Ah!"the loud scream pierced the sky.They turned their heads and to their horror saw Tom lying on the field unconscious.They stood like statues dazed and confused,wide-eyed at what was before them.They took a moment to realise what was before them.
"He's been struck by lightning!"Screamed John,"Keep calm,don't panic.We should think of solutions to help Tom,"Joe reassured them.They racked their brains for solutions to save Tom and the only sound heard was the rain drops.After a moment of silence,Joe came up with a plan,"John can you go to the public phone and call for an ambulance?"John set off without a moment to spare."Timmy,do you know the life-saving procedures?""Yes,"Answered Timmy.Timmy started the procedures after settling down.Tom showed signs of response.The ambulance arrived in the nick of time and Tom was sent to the hospital.His parents were informed and they rushed to the hospital.Tom promised not to be playful ever again.
