Lost Love

chapter 2

Whoa...... I did it! I got the deal. I said to myself entering my cabin which is next to CEO's as in Michael's cabin. Our cabins are on the top floor of the building and the glass wall across the room is giving the beautiful view of London.

Keeping the file on my desk I stood in front of the wall admiring the city where I spent my life after moving from New York. At first, I was very upset leaving my home behind but my father said to me "it is not  the place, it is the people who will make you feel like Home" as I was leaving with my family I felt relieved. Still I miss New York.

We moved here when I was 6. My mother is British. My mom and dad met in a coffee shop when my dad was on a visit in london. 
For Dad, it was love at first sight but mom fell for him after almost five dates. After marriage they started their life in New York where my dad used to live. But my grandad as in my mother's father wanted my mom to run his business because she was the only child and he doesn't want to ruin his hard work. Mom didn't agree with granddad because she was not interested in business. She just wanted to be a housewife and take care of her husband and children. That's why granddad passed his company to my father's name to which he agreed because to him, he was his father. My dad never met his parents. He grew up in orphanage. That's why he never disobeyed my grandparents. Like this we started our lives in London leaving behind the memories of New York.

I was in my own world when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in"  I said to the person.
Then enters my best friend sophie with a big smile her face. She works as a secretary of my brother and they both have secret crush on each other which I know. But they don't know about it.

"Hey Em! Congratulations for your deal girl. I already knew you were going to crack it".
She said while hugging me.

"Thanks soph. And how many times should I tell you that you don't need my permission to enter here".

"I know but still we should behave professionally". She said back.

"You and your professionalism.... soph".
I just love her. We are besties since high school. We completed our college together and here we are working in the same company.

Soph is very beautiful with her short brown hairs and hazel eyes. No doubt Michael likes her.

Well Michael is also handsome. I can't believe I am saying this but he looks like a model with his blonde hairs and blue eyes. He and my mom shares the hair colour while me and my dad has black hairs. But we both has blue eyes.

"Oh! I totally forgot. Sir called you in his office". She said.
"Okay I'll be there". I told her and took the file to show to my brother.

I knocked on my brother's cabin door and enter after his "Come in".

"Hey bro, you called me". I asked him sitting on a chair across his desk.

"Yeah I called you to congratulate about the deal. So congratulations kiddo!" He said with a proud smile on his face.

"Well thanks to you because of you and dad I am able achieve my dream of doing business". I told him. It's true my brother and father always supported and taught me about the business world. They just wanted me to be a successful businesswoman. And this is the start of my journey towards it.

"This is the file of today's deal. Just check it once". I said while getting up "I'll meet you at lunch".

He just gave me nod.

I came back to my cabin and continued my work.

After sometime soph came to call me for lunch. Me, sophie and Michael always have lunch together in his office.

I shut my laptop and went for the lunch. While entering I saw sophie is sitting on the  couch while Michael is on the phone. He glanced towards me and then continued his talking. We started organising our lunch on the table till Michael finished his call.

"Okay... Dad. Bye. Take care". I heard Michael.

"You were talking to dad"? I asked as he sat across me.

"Yes, I'll tell you after the lunch about the call". He said

Hmmm.. I replied and we started eating.

After finishing lunch I asked him
"So what was that"?

"Dad wants us to come New York". He replied.

"Why? New York all of a sudden. He is on his vacation right ? I asked him.

"Yes. They were on a vacation in New York but he wants us there till Saturday. He didn't mention any detail but said it is related to business". He replied.

"Ok.... then. When we will leave"? I asked.

"Tomorrow night. And pack for atleast one month. These are dad's words not mine". He said.

"What about this office, if you both are gone"? Sophie spoke for the first time reminding her presence.

"David will manage everything". Michael replied to her. David is a guy who is working for this company since our dad was CEO. So we trust him.

"As it is a business related sophie is also coming with us. Right brother" ? I asked Michael.

"Yes. She has to come". He said looking at sophie.

"Ok.. sir" she replied shyly.

I am going back to New York after so many years. I am excited and nervous as well.
