CHAPTER 30 - CONFESSIONS

The next few days went by nicely.

Our new 'neighbour' had came over nearly every day after her visit and very quickly, we grew very close. She would arrive in the morning, greeting me with a hug whilst Lucius was forced - by me - to take Scorpion out for a walk in the fields, leaving me and Dee to have some girl time alone. Lucius had disapproved of leaving me alone with the woman, still feeling as though he could not trust her. But after a stern talk with me, he eventually caved in, giving her a look before saying goodbye and leaving the house.

I could tell by the way he looked at me at the door, he wanted a kiss before he left. I merely sighed, looking behind me to check no one was watching as I kissed him sweetly on the lips, pulling away before it got too heated. With that, he left, smirking to himself as he did so.

Now, I'm sat at the table, Dee opposite me as she sips her warm tea, talking about gardening and how much she had grown to love it over the years. I know stuff like that was supposed to bore me, but listening to her voice was so peaceful, so soothing, it relaxed me. My own mother was never this close to me, though she tried it just didn't feel the same. I nod as she speaks, taking a small sip of my own drink and disapproving. I decided to have coffee today, since I had woke up tired but now I don't want it, setting it down on the table.

As I laugh at something Dee had said, Lucius walks in the room, buttoning his shirt from the bottom and leaving the top few undone, giving him an even sexier look than he had already. His hair is loose, falling straight against his back, almost perfectly in place. I had left him in bed this morning whilst I opened the door for Dee. He was sound asleep when I heard a knock, and so I decided to let him relax whilst I got up for the day. When he spots me after hearing my laugh, he smiles before his eyes turn and land on Dee who's chuckling along with me. Then his expression changes to a slightly annoyed one.

"Lucius," says Dee, and I turn my head to look at him, unaware of his presence behind me. "Dinah," he nods in greeting, keeping his face neutral before turning to me. "Good morning." I smile, my heart lifting as he smirks faintly. "Good morning."

I offer him my coffee and he takes it, bringing to his lips and tasting the drink as I watch. "Do you have anything planned for today?" I ask, unsure if I was going to spend the day with Dinah or do something else. "Yes actually, I was going to draft up some papers. Make some things that can pass off as evidence of my task." I nod, watching him as he clears his throat. "What about you?" I notice his eyes as they search mine, clearly expecting a specific answer. I knew what he was getting at. He didn't like when Dinah was over, as he knew he couldn't talk with me properly.

And frankly, I think he missed spending more time with me - which I found very cute.

"I'm not sure yet, but I'll let you know," I reply softly, my expression neutral. But secretly, as much as I loved having Dee over, I missed him too. And maybe today, we could spend some time together, like we did before.

He smirks, "All right then, I'll be in the bedroom if you need me."

"Okay," I answer, watching him as he turns to go, leaving the door slightly ajar. I turn back to Dinah, who unfortunately, has a grin plastered on her rosy face, clearly amused.

"What?"

"Nothing..." I watch her carefully.

"Dee..." I say, making her chuckle.
