"I swear it will get easier, remember that with every piece of ya."

"So... you blasted him?"

I nod timidly, staring at my clasped hands on the table.

"Just like that?"

"I didn't mean to, I swear. I just... got so angry and I accidentally hit him with the spell."

She nods, taking a sip from her mug. For some reason, she seems a lot more relaxed about it than I thought she would be. "I can't believe Severus taught you such a spell."

"Well it wasn't like I was planning on using it anyway," I murmur, stroking Scorpion as he curls up on my lap. "Is he okay?"

"He's getting better - I mean I didn't learn the healing spell for it so I had to go out and buy a potion instead."

"You went out?!"

I look up at her to see she's gobsmacked, a look of anger and worry on her face. I shouldn't have told her that.

"Erm..." I think helplessly, how was I going to get out of this one? "Yes?"

"Are you in you right mind, young lady?!" She says loudly, causing Scorpion's head to rise tiredly. "Shh," I whisper, "Lucius is sleeping."

"I cannot believe you would do such a thing!" She whisper shouts, putting her mug firmly on the table. "I was safe," I assure her, stroking Scorpion's furry head as he settles back down in my lap. "I had Harry's invisibility cloak."

"That's not the point!" She hisses, and I look down, ashamed I had worried her so much. "I'm sorry Dee, but Lucius was critical. I wasn't just going to leave him." She studies my face, sighing as her hand rests over mine on the table, grasping it gently. "I don't know if you were aware," she says softly, "but Bellatrix Lestrange was in town yesterday." I look up in shock, how did she know?

But I knew one thing for sure - I wasn't going to be telling her anything else about what happened yesterday.

"That's why I shouted, I'm sorry." I hold her hand tighter, shaking my head. "No, I'm sorry, you're right - it was a stupid thing to do." She has a heartfelt smile on her face as she looks at mine. "I've known you for a long time now, looking out for you over the years in case any danger was headed your way. Or Potter's. I suppose I worry too much - you're like a daughter to me."

My heart swells at her words and I feel the tears sting my eyes. "Oh, Dee..."

"I know, I know," she chuckles, wiping her own tears. "Look at us- such an emotional mess." I smile, laughing along with her.

"Thank you, for looking after me. Even if I didn't know you at the time." She grins, holding my hand tighter.

"Of course my dear."

After she leaves, I clean away our mess, washing our used dishes and wiping down the table. Scorpion sleeps on the sofa tiredly, his body stretched out as he lays on his belly. I smile at the sight, noticing how much bigger he looked. My baby was growing up.

I plant a small kiss on his head before going upstairs, and slowly opening the bedroom door. When I enter, I notice Lucius is sat up in bed, the silk covers hugging his naked waist as he stares at a moving photo in his hand, his face solemn. His coat is on the chair beside him, making it clear he had retrieved the photo from his pocket.

I clear my throat, announcing my arrival. Instantly, his head darts up, his ocean blue eyes meeting mine, and for a second, I could swear, all I see is sorrow. "Is everything okay?"
