"Gale Hawthorne!"
I snap out of the reverie.
"You'll be joining Thomas Hyde, Bristel and Sasha Braus and will be working in Section C of Mine 27. You will be under the supervision of Captain Davis. Report to your sections immediately. Next!"
My brain doesn't process the information fast enough. Luckily, Thom finds me and pulls me along with him.

"Sorry," I mutter.
"Gale, please, something's bothering you. What is-"
"It's nothing. I'm fine."
"You know, Everdeen is coming home. Don't you dare doubt it, okay?"
It suddenly felt like someone released the pain in my chest.
She's coming back. That's what truly matters.
I squeeze Thom's shoulder.
"Thanks man. I really needed that."
Thom smiles back.
"Everything is going to turn out fine bud."
I really hope it does.
