Peeta is rushed off stage and they show a close-up shot of Katniss. A slight pink tinges her cheeks and Caesar guffaws. 'Things really are heating up. Let's see where young love leads us! Signing off Caesar Flickerman!' And the lights go out.
I leave the house without another word. Katniss is safe. But what was that with Peeta? What if...what if she falls for his trap?
NO.
Katniss is smart, whatever Peeta tries, Katniss would never fall. She's not an idiot.
Knowing this makes me calm down...
but what is this feeling of envy...I wanted to be the first to confess to her...I love her...
An endless cycle of doubts and fear surround me. What if Katniss dies out there? What if Peeta is planning to eliminate her from the game as soon as possible to increase his chances? He knows that Katniss can hunt, does he want to team up with her? What was he trying to achieve by confessing in front of the whole nation?! Does he expect to get some sponsors by putting up his unrequited love?
My heart raced as all these thoughts came flooding in.
CALM DOWN GALE. YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN.
I repeat those words to myself and take a deep breath.
As I walk home, that feeling of trepidation never leaves my mind. My heart clenched with an unknown fear and my legs stiffened, but I keep moving. I need to take care of both our families. I promised her.
