***Okay, the next 2 or maybe 3 chapters will be right before the second movie so after this chapter and the next, the rest is after httyd 2 The beginning of this chapter takes off from where the prologue was when they were telling the legend :)

Since you already read the prologue, I'm not going to repeat EVERYTHING that they say, just go back RIGHT NOW and read the prologue first, then come read this chapter :) lol  and P.S. The picture in the media is what Emma's eye color looks like btw***

A man and six teenagers sat on logs around a fire. The amber flames licked at the cool, autumn air as sparks floated into the air before fading into the shaddows of night. The scarlett glow refected on each of their faces, as they listened intently to the man. I sat behind the foliage of the trees peeking through the brush. I like to watch them: it kind of makes me feel apart of it.

"Today, kids, I'm gonna'  tell ya 'bout the Legend of the Darkstalker," A large blonde viking announced menacingly. I sighed. Here we go again...

"Whoa, whoa, wait," A teen with black hair interjected, "Gobber, is this story going to be real?" The one handed viking slapped the smug boy over the top of the head. Not really. I thought

"Well of course, they always are, Snotlout, now will you just shut up and listen?"  The twins chuckled and a blonde girl clapped a hand to her forhead while a skinny boy with chocolate brown hair rolled his eyes. "Now as I was saying, Legend says--and a true one at that, thankyou very much--" he jabbed a finger to 'Snotlout's' chest. "--that there is a girl with unstoppable powers; evil. dark powers. She can zap you with a single wave of the hand and you would die instantly!" The crimson flames reflected in his eyes as he continued to wave his hands about. A husky teen was trembling with fear. The girl twin snook behind him and pounced his hands to his shoulders, causing the boy to scream. I could do that! I thought, referring to what the man was saying. But I never would!

"She is more powerful than you could ever imagine. You can tell where she's been, because her footsteps leave dark purple BURNmarks wherever she goes. She is dangerous, I tell you, DANGEROUS!" he roared, standing up from his seat, before noticing the awkward stares he was recieving. His cheaks reddened as he casually sat back down. " *ahem* Anyways, she can cause giant black roots to rise from the ground and snatch you up and impale you with thorns! She can create black and purple fire and can pull lightening right from the sky! She can shoot violet energy beams from her hands and can turn the sea black with a single whisper. She is called the Darkstalker--" "Emma, my name is Emma!" I whispered. The skinny boy turned in the direction of my voice. I cupped a hand over my mouth, not realizing that I had said it out loud.

Without anyone from the circle noticing, the boy walked in my direction. I could hear the obnoxious black-haired boy and the man talking, but I wasn't paying attention to what they said: my eyes were fixed on the boy who was walking towards me. I slowly knealt down behind a tree. He looked around, his eyes that were greener than any I had ever seen, reflected the fire light. "Hello?" he whispered. I sat silently. Finally, he shrugged and went back to the campfire.

My focus returned to the conversation. "Glad you asked, Laddie. Her eyes are purple, and her hair has a purple sheen to it. The the most obvious way to recognize 'er are the purple markings that vine their way up her arm and up her neck.," Subconsciously, I traced my birthmarks that swirled up my left arm and neck with my hand. If you ever see her, you can do one of two things: run, (this is the part where you survive,) or try to kill her--(this is the part where you disappear without a trace.)" He informed them. Not true!!!

"Gobber, what's her name?" The green-eyed boy asked. I was shocked. Somebody cared about my name. The vikings haven't even wondered about my name for years!

"Well, I told you--she's called the Darkstalker," Pfft. Dumb answer. That's not my name.

"Yah, but that's not her name, right?"  He ventured. Thank you! "And are you sure she's evil, I mean dragons seemed evil, but were really just misunderstood. The same could be with her, right?" He--he thinks I'm not evil! He was really surprising me. He had a perspected--a different view on life than other vikings have. He's... different.

He's the boy I've been dreaming about ever since I was a toddler.

"No, no, impossible! If she finds you, she will kill you," He said darkly, sending shivers up the teens' spines. Then his voice returned to his normal peppy tone. "And to adress you initial question, I suppose nobody knows her real name..." I sighed.

I whispered softly, "And I think no one ever will..."

                                                                      * * *

~The next morning~

I woke up from my bed of leaves, my hair littered with them. I sat up and finger-combed the leaves out of my purple-tinted hair. My purple leggings had small holes and grass stanes speckling them at my knee and my black, sleeveless dress was pasted in dirt. My black boots were muddy and worn out. I took my purple scarf and tied the end around my left wrist before wrapping it around and up my arm, covering the spiral pattern. I pulled my hair over my left shoulder, covering the rest of it. I used a combination of soot and water to cover the purple sheen in my hair. I couldn't do anything about my bright purple eyes; I just had to hope that no one would notice...

Today, I was going into the village of Berk.

I could no longer stand being a whisper lost in the wind. I wanted to be heard. I wanted to be noticed. I didn't want to be a ghost story anymore. But they still couldn't know who I was. Today I was free from being the Darkstalker. For the first time in 16 years I would be just... Emma.

I wanted to meet the boy that I've dreamed about since I was three--the boy who actually wants to see the best in me. He believes that I may not be evil. And that was enough for me.

I stood on the outskirts of the village, hesitating. I hadn't planned out what my cover story was. In fact, I had avoided that on purpose so that I couldn't talk myself out of it. But really, why would they trust a stranger who comes out of nowhere? There I was, talking myself out of it. But I had to go. I had to be someone.

To prove myself wrong, I took a few steps out of the brush and sucked in a shaky breath. I was out in the open for the first time ever. I started walking on the edge of the forest for a while. Then I heard a loudcracking noise. I looked behind me to see a breathtakingly tall tree start to fall on me! I broke out into a run, dodging the stray branches that were being broken off by the other trees. One fell straight on my left arm, and I could tell that it was broken. The falling tree was inches behind me. And the worst part: I saw a cliff up ahead that dropped into a cove. Once I reached the edge, I slept off of it and shoved my hands below to make a force field. Because of my injured arm, the force field flickered before disappearing. I screamed as the earth rushed towards me. I slammed into te ground and everything went black.
