The whole day all I could think about was Tytan. It was not something I had exactly planned on doing but every time I tried to get him out of my head I pictured him in the shirt from last night and he took over my mind again. Luckily, I wasn't completely incapacitated by the thought of him, I could still take notes in class and somewhat comprehend what was going on.

But the day went by. It moved just enough to land me in football practice with Hunter devouring his cookie.

I spotted Tytan easily. He was having a fight, again. It looked more like an argument than a physical fight so that was a good sign, right?

He walked away from it just as he saw Rosie, he abandoned everything and ran up to her. I should have stopped looking but I couldn't. He kissed her on the lips and--

"Hey...look at me." Hunter said.

"He's so happy, isn't he?"

"Rosie and I hung out last night."

"What?"

"She asked if I was free and I happened to be."

"What did you talk about?"

"Tytan, stuff."

"What stuff?"

"Just stuff."

"So why are you telling me this?"

"Because I had to tell someone."

"Hunter, are you sure it was just a friendly thing?"

"Yeah, it was nice to have a friend who wasn't you or Mae." While I had been fully engrossed in my own head, it now dawned on me that Hunter was actually a bit lonely.

"Hey, it's okay. What's she like?"

"She's adorable and her laugh is uninhabited. She's so stubborn, always prepared for an argument. And the way she can take you by surprise, just by saying these things you never expected to hear her say." He seemed free, I liked seeing him like that. Excited, almost.

"You can't like her?"

"No no, I shouldn't, we're just friends."

"Hunter, I don't know what to tell you but it you said it yourself, it's as close to a crush and I think I'd expect you to have."

"Hunter has a crush?" Tytan had made his way to us and the words sounded funny the way he said them.

He wrapped an arm around me and turned to Tytan, "Lex has been spending a lot of time with me and now she thinks I have a crush on her," Hunter blurted.

"Oh... that's--that's unexpected. I thought she scared you?"

"I do like spending time with her--"

"And Mae's okay with this?"

"Mae doesn't take decisions for me." Hunter tensed up.

"What are you doing here, anyway? I thought we weren't talking?"

"Lex invited me."

"Right...okay, uh--Lex I'll take some time here so you can go if you'd like."

"No, I said I'd watch you play, so go play!"

He just walked away.

"He's mad at you," I said to Hunter.

"I was going to use you as a human shield if he came at me and I think you deserve to know that." His sigh morphing into a laugh.

"Yeah, I wouldn't even mind," I gently pet him on the head.

"Maybe I do have a crush on you," he had this giddy look on his face and I hoped I had something to do with it, it was really fulfilling seeing Hunter happy.
