The Life of Eniola (rewriting story)

Chapter 8

I'm so excited for today because my Aunty and I planned for Alessia to come to my work instead of going to her house or my house straightaway. I will plan to finish off the pitch presentation and chill for the rest of the day. I take the stairs and walk into the department. Kianna is already at my desk, smiling at me and I have no idea why.

"Goodmorning, Kia, I hope I'm not in trouble....?"I drop off my bag and sit down.

"Oh no, nothing like that. I just wanted to ask if it's okay for you to complete a survey."She sees my facial expression and laughs.

"Every time there's a new employee here who has worked for more than 3 weeks they will complete a survey to share their insights about current company policies, procedures and workplace environment."I nod and now I understand properly. She sends me the link to the survey through my email and I start to answer to fill out the survey, within a short amount of time, I message her that I finished it, followed by a reply that says OK.

I go back to continue the pitch presentation even though it's not until the day after tomorrow because it is better to be safe than sorry as my mother always said. Finally, I am finished with the pitch presentation and I stretch my arms out and back.

 How relaxing that was.

I'm talking to Kianna about her plans for the weekend whilst working when I look at the time and it is the end of work.

I walk out of the building, thrilled to see Alessia when I feel a strong arm pull me back and I turn.

Alex.

"Hello, Sir. Is there something wrong?"I inquire, feeling pissed.

"No, there isn't."He grins. Unbelievable.

"Then why did you pull my arm ?"

"No reason."He shrugs.

Che cazzo?He looks stunned and I realise that I said it out loud. I hear a girl call out my name and I turn to see Alessia running towards with my Aunt behind her. I carry her in my arms and kiss her cheeks multiple times making her laugh.

"How are you doing, baby? How was school?"I asked, beaming at her.

"I'm fine mummy. School was nice but I missed you."She says.

"I missed you more, sweetie. Tell you what I got a bigger surprise for you at the weekend, you ready for that?"She nods frantically.

"So this is why you wanted to have a permanent day off."He looks at my daughter, she smiles. I set her down and take her hand, feeling timid she hides behind my leg.

"Lissy, he doesn't bite."She reluctantly comes out.

"Sir, meet my daughter Alessia and Alessia this is my boss."She doesn't say anything but I see that a smile comes out of her face. My aunt steps forward and notices Alex, with a flash of recognition.

"Alessia, want to go get some ice cream?"She nods and takes my Aunty's hand,leaving us alone.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a daughter?"I glare at him.

"Why should it matter, Mr Ashton?" He sighs in frustration.

"Well, it's time for me to go, Sir."I bow and leave.

Back at home, I go into the kitchen and cook dinner for all of us.

"Is that Alexander Ashton I just saw back there?".I grimace knowing what's about to happen.

"Yes, Aunty."She launched into a load of questions.
