My life wasn't all rosy and certainly not perfect but things did take a toll on my life...

Elena loved going to cooking classes since she was 3 years old because she loved learning new things, new foods and cultures, on the other hand, Alexander adored taking painting classes from his grandfather.

Because of this,  Elena met him whilst she was walking with her mother on her way to kindergarten. They both chatted happily on the way there and became friends pretty quickly.

That afternoon, I was having a terrible day because Alex and I argued. After all, he wasn't telling me why he was relocating.

One faithful day, Elena came into the house, looking upset, and saw her dad struggling to breathe and choking violently whilst his face became beetroot red. Elena's heart started pounding at an increasingly rapid pace as she rushed to her father worried about him.

"Daddy, are you okay?"She burst into tears as she touched her father's cheeks.

He didn't respond and continued to cough in agony.

She frantically called for her mother.

Her mother hurried down the stairs and looked at her husband with deep concern on her face.  She got her phone out and called the ambulance as she looked towards her anxious daughter and her husband.

10 minutes later...

The ambulance arrives carrying Elena's dad on a stretcher and leave, whilst Elena's mother decided to follow them in their car. As Elena's mum went out, she stopped and turns to Elena who hasn't moved from her spot.

"Will Daddy be okay, Mum?"Elena says as her voice cracks, her face already red and blotchy, her eyes bloodshot, puffy eyelids.

Elena's mother went towards her embracing her, caressing her back in a soothing touch.

"Oh honey, it's going to be okay. Now, come on, let's go and see Dad," she says, holding her daughter's hand.

Elena's mother closes the front door with a key and guides, Elena, into the backseat. She goes in the driver seat and starts driving towards the local hospital where her husband is.

A while later, they arrive at the hospital parking lot and start to walk towards the main entrance, Elena's mother registers her name and the receptionist led them to a hallway they turned right, which, was the room where her husband was in. Elena and her mother sat down on a chair, waiting uneasily.

After what felt like an eternity, a doctor comes out of the room with a troubled expression plastered on his face.

"We tried everything we possibly can but...."The doctor trails off, letting his words hang in the empty air.

Swiftly, Elena's mother stands up from her chair and looks the doctor in the eye. She tried to hold back her tears, but, it was not working because her tears ran down her face, like water flowing through the drains.

"But what?"Elena's mother asks, afraid of what he was about to say.

Elena felt frightened, unaware of what was happening and started to weep.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Mrs Alfonsi."He says as goes back inside the room to carry the lifeless body of the now-deceased Marco Alfonsi.

I was 6 years old when my father passed away.

Everything fell apart when she heard those words.

Elena's mother had always been so self-conscious when she cried but now she just gave way to the enormity of her grief. She sobbed into her hands and the tears dripped between her fingers, raining down onto the floor.

She quickly stood up and went to Elena to comfort her.

"What happened to daddy, Mum?"She asks, curiously unaware of what just happened.
