I wake up to my alarm ringing, I turn it off and get on with the day. I put on the music at a moderate volume because my Aunty and Alessia are asleep, so I would not want to disturb them and I begin my usual morning routine.
After finishing dressing up, I eat my breakfast, wash the dishes and set off for work.
I reflect on what happened yesterday as I drive. That was the first time I had ever felt happy, like that. It is something that I am used to but I am feeling confident that it will work out between him and me.
And oh dear, that smirk he gave me.
I lock the door and walk inside the building. I open the doors that lead to the editorial department.
"Hey, girl!" I notice Kianna waving at me.
"What's up, Kia?" I drop my bag at the work desk and sit down.
She looks at me closely.
Am I missing something?
"Who got you looking so happy, Elena?" She says.
I blush and I look back at the memory.
"Hello, earth Elena." Looks like I spaced out.
"Oh yeah, sorry what were you saying?"
"I said who got you smiling like that?"
"Just a guy, that's all." I turn the chair around to face the computer.
"Oh, come on, I-"Kianna pleads.
"Good morning, everyone." Alexander walks in.
"Morning, Mr Ashton." We, including the people around us, reply back.
"Elena, tell me please." She says, quietly.
This woman is stubborn.
"Ok, fine. I went on a date yesterday."
"What? You went on a date?" I throw a death glare at Kianna
Why on earth would she do that? Now, I am going to be the gossip of the week thanks to her. I should have kept my mouth closed like I expected her to whisper or something. Instead, she said it out loud. Everyone is staring at me because they all heard what Kianna said.
Oh, God.
I wish I could have the power to skip time forwards so I do not have to deal with this.
Even Alexander is looking at me, but his face shows that he is shocked, for some strange reason.
"Is something the matter, Miss Alfonsi?"
"No, Mr Ashton. Everything okay." I force a smile whilst looking at Kianna.
She mouths 'sorry'.
As if that is going to help anything.
After work, I get on the phone (on Bluetooth speaker) with Sylvaine whilst driving to go to Alessia's school to pick her up.
"OMG, Sylvie. It was so embarrassing."
"Lena bear, that sounds humiliating to experience, and what did Alexander say?"
"He only asked what was wrong. But, I don't know, I think he behaved weirdly."
"As in like jealousy or anger?"
"Probably both. I think I remember that he was clenching his fist as if it made him upset that I went on a date."
"What if he likes you?"
"No way." I snort.
"Why. Your date from yesterday interested you more?" I keep quiet.
"I guess your silence means, right? Am I correct?" I get off the car and walk towards the entrance.
