The Life of Eniola (rewriting story)

Chapter 10

It's the day that I present my pitch presentation to everyone in my department and Alex. I walk into the department and I sit down, tapping my fingers on the table and chew on my nails. Subsequently, Kianna comes over to me and tells me that it's time to present my pitch. She touches my shoulder and reassures me that it will be okay because she notices my behaviour. I walk to the presentation room and notice from the outside that everyone is inside, I can even see Alex at the front with his assistant. My heart is pounding a lot and all of a sudden, Nikki walks out of the back of the presentation room and walks past me with a devious smile.

I breathe deeply and let out a sigh. You can do it, Elena. I step inside the presentation room and I walk right in the middle to face everyone. As if on cue, Alex speaks up.

"You may now begin, Miss Alfonsi."He states. I begin showing my presentation and flicking through the slides with a presentation flicker.

 It looks likes that I'm doing wonderfully because the entire room silent but they seem quite impressed at how I'm doing so far, which gives a boost to my confidence. I'm just about to show the magazine design which is the overall idea of my presentation when I start to panic because I can't find it anywhere and it's just showing a black screen. An unsettling feeling began welling up inside me.

Where the hell is it? Why is this happening to me? To make the matter even worse, I hear laughing in the background.

"Is there a problem, Miss Alfonsi?"He asks, sounding rather concerned than irritated with me.

"Er...yes, I mean. Everything's okay, it's just that...."After what seemed like the last minutes on earth, I pull out the design which supposedly was my backup plan from my email that I sent to myself, just in case anything happened.

Funny how things turn out, huh.

Afterwards, Alex tells everyone to leave except me.

He's still sat in the chair but tells me to approach him and so I do.

"What on earth happened, just now, Miss Alfonsi?"His face tells it all: he's clearly angry.

Yikes.

So many thoughts are going across my mind: fudge, what do I say? I literally made sure there were no mistakes whatsoever. Come to think about it, why did Nikki....? That little witch!

"Nikki caused this!"I blurt out

"I beg your pardon."Alex looks startled.

"It was not my fault that this happened, I remember that it was Nikki because...."I describe to him thoroughly in every detail possible to convince him. He looks at me and shakes his head.

"You don't believe me? You think that I-"I stop myself, on the verge of tears.

Alex calls for Nikki through the intercom on the table.

After that, Nikki arrives at the presentation room.

"Miss Johnson, Elena here claims that you have sabotaged her pitch presentation."Her mouth opens.

"Me? I would never do that Mr Ashton."She says, innocently. My head snaps towards her direction, perplexed at her response.

"It has been brought to my attention that there was a fight involving the both of you,  two days ago and I have to say I'm very disappointed in you, especially since you just started this job. "

"You may leave now."I scoff, looking between Alex and Nikki seem to enjoy this.

I walk off and end up skipping lunchtime and as soon as the clock strikes five, I leave the building.

This was officially the worst day I've ever had.
